the law states that every Nigerian, regardless of wherever in the world u study, must undertake the national youth service as long as he or she graduated before age 30 and is mentally and physically fit ... Such exempted people MUST obtain an exemption certificate before they are considered to be EMPLOYABLE as GRADUATES in the country...and even with the exemption certificate, there are some jobs in Nigeria that you CAN NEVER be allowed to hold.

Tambuwwal and other politicians have had to go and do their NYSC just before they could tender their academic qualification.

All Nigerians schooling abroad know that at some point, they have to come and do NYSC unless they will only work in their fathers house.

NYSC allows for service waivers and anyone can apply to get waiver. If approved you dont have to serve.

It's actually not mandatory to serve, I have lots of friends who didn't serve, the only reason why you need to serve is if you want to seek employment, go for postgraduate study in Nigeria or contest for an elective because it's a prerequisite for them, but other than that service is not compulsory.
It will be good if they serve anyway as that may show the first family is indeed patriotic but again it's their own prerogative, not compulsory

You quite right, it is not compulsory; if you don't need a job politically or otherwise then you don't have to do NYSC - just start your own business and be self employed - shikenan.
