It makes me feel like crying that we have eyes but we cant see. We have ears but we cant hear and we have brains but we cant reason! Nigeria has remained a dead horse, from 1960 to 1980 till date, we have continued to retrogress. It is not rocket science to decipher that we cant move an inch under the kind of stone age system we operate. Its either we enforce resource control/true fiscal federalism or we divide the country, otherwise we will continue going in circles till the end of time!
I think is too late for all those things you mentioned,

Eldee - One Day

Intro:
“I have a dream that one day, the children of this great nation will look forward to a much brighter future. One day, we can fully utilize the resources of this great nation to its full potential,…I have a dream”

Chorus
One day one day e go better for naija
money go circulate, light go dey
One day one day we no go need to ja comot naija
Omo e don tey, I for like make e be today

Verse 1:
its still the same guys, still the same lies
still the same breed, still the same greed
still the same promise, ten years in office
make no change, except for their pockets
they really dont care, and we dont either
we’d rather just chill, watch them decieve us
trust in God, thats what they teach us
to idolize leaders, ballers, preachers
and dont ask questions or else they’ll kill
watch them loot, they rob, they steal
all the resources under our nose
cant blame ’em its the position we chose
we stay subdued, modern day slaves
living like s#!t in these modern day caves
we must say no, thats the solution
new day, new way, due revolution
Chorus:
One day one day e go better for naija
money go circulate, light go dey
One day one day we no go need to ja comot naija
Omo e don tey, I for like make e be today
Verse 2:
its been about 50yrs of this struggle
its been a long time we’ve been on this hustle
its almost as if say we no wan grow
people dey lead us just to get dough
cos if light no dey generator must sell
and if you get gen you must buy fuel
and to buy fuel no be small matter
without borehole you no fit get clean water
so poor man suppose to do business?
how small child suppose to fight sickness?
if for hospital, drugs no dey
and if you get wound, you must first pay
now our education don dey fall short
all skilled workers just wan comot
this kind system e no sustainable
it is not sustainable
Chorus:
One day one day e go better for naija
money go circulate, light go dey
One day one day we no go need to ja comot naija
Omo e don tey, I for like make e be today
Verse 3:
Eh me I go yarn, i go still dey speak my mind
for all the basic amenities my people dey find
our children dey die, our wives dey cry
and its all due to the corruption
we must say no, no to all bad politicians
no, no to bad government officials
no, no to all man wey suppose dey work, we dey thief money
healthcare is so bad, mortality rate is too high
good road e no dey, for road my people dey too die
clean water to drink, good house to sleep
electricity and security
my brother all these things na basic amenity
na basic amenity
Chorus:
One day one day e go better for naija
money go circulate, light go dey
One day one day we no go need to ja comot naija

[quote author=butanep post=51524236] Nigeria is really in a sorry state. I was a kid when my father said Nigeria will become great again till now as a full grown adult, I have seen no difference. We are still saying, Nigeria will be great and things keep Nigeria will never be better as far as am concerned! Until we split because we don't have a common value system

I think Fela was referring to his tribesmen in the Zombie track.

Naaah!

Fela was referring to those things from the upper Niger suffering from Flatinosis disease!

You know the difference between Zombies and normal humanbeings is that Zombies dont have a place to keep their senses, as in `their head is ....

Sumbori should complete it for me

Fela will remain a legend any time any day likewise many other musicians of old with a vision for the future. Many musicians of old were social activist from the lyrics of their songs we can now sense reality the decay they have foresee coming down on this generation.

Todays' music Industry is full of Waak musicians who are only concern about dancehall music and nothing about the injustice in the society. They promote nudity in music videos were ladies wiggle their black butt..lol and wear bikini under the African sun. A large percentage of them can't even play a single musical instrument or sing live on stage. Thank God for the computer age, if not some will stay back selling their rat poison on the street.. Hmmm! I no mention any musician name o make una no come dey yab me any how grin.

Re: Nigeria Economy Then Vs Now: Moving Forward Or Backward, Remember These Songs? by deflover(m): 6:27am On Dec 01, 2016
the Nigeria we 've today is the result of the greed of our founding fathers
from zik to awolowo to balewa
the structures of tribalism they built our foundation on is what has killed the nation

they agreed on power sharing within the three major ethnic groups but a certain tribe hasn't always being happy as they wanted power first
this played out in the voting for Nigeria to be a republic and power was taken away from zik and absolute power was given to the centre by that single act making Hausa the sole power.

now this brought unrest and power struggle in the then western region and from there the coup and counter coup which brought the civil war.

after the war the tribes have refused to structure the nation for equity sake as the present structure favours the north

this structure is what is holding us down and we will never be great until it is broken down or a war comes and we part as a country.

voting is not the answer as if you like vote in your brother
a nation is run by structures
and as long as the president says he will obey the rule of law
he has just told you the current political structure is what will be

So is there any hope
time will tell
