Anambra: Soludo remains PDP candidate - Ogbulafor - Sack Ogbulafor now - Ex-PDP bosses insist

Leon Usigbe, Abuja - 11.11.2009

THE National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, has vowed that no matter what happens, the party will not rescind its decision to select Professor Chukwuma Soludo as its candidate in the 2010 Anambra State governorship election.
He stated this position at the national secretariat of the party on Tuesday, in Abuja, while inaugurating the 18-man caretaker committee which replaced the recently dissolved state executive committee of the PDP in Anambra State.
Since Professor Soludo’s emergence as the candidate, his rivals in the state have mounted a sustained campaign to pressure the party to reverse his candidacy but, so far, to no avail.
Prince Ogbulafor declared that members of the PDP must be prepared to abide by its constitution or quietly move out as the party was not willing to compromise its position, wondering why some members should drag the party to court.
Addressing members of the caretaker committee, led by Dr. Osita Ogbu, the national chairman said “all aspirants who lost should lose gallantly and know that the party has made a choice.” He stated that the party had no intention of reversing its decision. “No going back. We stand firm on the decision of the party; the decision of the party is supreme.”
According to him, “no matter what happens, we are not going to rescind our decision, but, to build on it to make sure that Chukwuma Soludo is given all the necessary backing by the party to win the election come 2010.”
The party chairman advised the aggrieved governorship aspirants, who were still in court, to have a rethink, as he argued that “if you come into an association, you had better abide by the constitution of that association or town union. When you don’t like it, you quietly walk out. PDP has a constitution that guides us and we stick to our constitution and we don’t see why people should be taking the party to court.”
Also speaking on the occasion, the National Deputy Chairman of the party, Dr. Bello Mohammed Haliru, blamed the problem of the PDP in Anmabra State on lack of discipline by members, as he recalled that the entire South-East had been PDP’s territory at the advent of this democratic dispensation, noting that the party was now in the process of correcting what had gone wrong to ensure that all the states in the region returned to its fold in the next general election.
He also blasted opposition elements in the country who, he said, were “vultures” ganging up against the PDP in order to cause chaos. Dr. Mohammed said that the party was determined to support President Umaru Yar’Adua to ensure that the opposition did not succeed in their alleged attempt to scuttle democracy as, according to him, they could not come to power through the ballot box.
According to him, “I now draw your attention to the fact that there are political vultures in this country who have no hope of winning election through the ballot box. We, as the leading party, will lead by example and to ensure that the political process is carried out in a very cordial atmosphere.

We, as a political party, will not allow such people into the political process in this country.” Meanwhile, two former chairmen of the PDP in Anambra State have called for the removal of Prince Ogbulafor, who they accused of being the problem of PDP in the state.
The two leaders also threatened to drag him before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) to prove allegation of corruption against him.
Addressing a press conference in Abuja, on Tuesday, Dr. Dan Ulasi and Chief Ifeatu Obi Okoye, who were elected chairmen of the party in the state, remarked that the party had become morally corrupt under the leadership of Prince Ogbulafor, who they also accused of presiding over its complete collapse in the state.
Dr. Ulasi, who spoke at the conference, noted that the PDP had lost its respect under Prince Ogbulafor, accusing him of constituting the Anambra State Caretaker Committee of the PDP without consulting with the other members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
“So you can see the rift. So, he has already set up a parallel line because he is quick to kill. He knew why he came and he was lucky he came and he has made the kill. Whether he goes tomorrow or not is unimportant but what is important is that he has destroyed the integrity of the Igbo man,” Dr. Ulasi alleged.
According to him, “this is very unfortunate, because everywhere you go and say you are from Anambra, people cast aspersions on your integrity as if we are the most disorganised people and I don’t think that is true. That is not the nature of our people.
“Corruption is a very simple term and it is self-explanatory. Once you are unable to take a decision when facts are presented to you, you are corrupt. Corruption does not mean taking money alone; there is moral corruption, attitudinal corruption psychological corruption, financial corruption even food corruption, woman corruption,” he said.
He added “if he doubts what I am saying, then let him go to court and we will produce evidence to show that and will even take him to the EFCC.” The former party boss remarked that “what the national chairman of PDP did to his people is to take us to bed without (wearing a) condom. It is a national tragedy. You call people to go for an election and you get up and announce a candidate’s name. That is a tragedy.”
He said that there was a deliberate attempt by the PDP to ensure that nothing worked in Anambra State, saying that the action of Prince Ogbulafor suggested that he was interested in masterminding the destruction of Igboland.
According to him, “there has been a deliberate effort to make sure that nothing works in Anambra and why it is unfortunate is that the leadership of the party is headed by someone I thought was a distinguished son of Igboland.
“I didn’t know somebody will mastermind the destruction of his father’s compound. This is the first time in the history of political process that you see somebody deliberately masterminding how to destroy his father’s compound,” he stated.

I cannot wait for Uba's case at the appeal court. As for PDP and Soludo, time will tell.

what do u expect from a failure like ogbulafor?
he failed in abia state and was compensated by obj.
orji uzor kalu turned him a slave in his own state and the private owner of the country brought him in so he who pays the piper dictates the tone.
soludo like ogbulafor cannot win any well organised election hence the need to look up to the private owner of nigeria for selections and appointments.
if soludo happens to succeed in anambra tomorrow, no one will expect him to go against the wishes of his creator, his holiness obj.
telling ogbulafor to shut his gutters will be another way of wasting energy and time. they are all obj boys. men working against their own ppl.

how did you come to that conclusion and what qualifies anyone to be an Igbo man? other than being from the South East geopolitical zone of Nigeria and speaking the tribal language Igbo?

the sort of rubbish some people post on Nairaland only attest to the fact that internet is really spreading fast around the world and fools have easy access to it.

Honestly, I worry why Prof Soludo should find himself in the DIRTY Anambra State politics. He has disappointed a lot of people. He has lost his respect and greed has overtaken him. Check out her sisters, Okonjo-Iweala and Oby Ezekesili! How can a Ist clas graduate professor with int'l contacts be dragging seats with Chris Ubah? I know he will live to regret his path of greed.

What a shame!
