The Abuja Chapter of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari over the increase in the budgetary allocation to the judiciary in the 2017 budget.
Mr Ezenwa Anumnu, the Chairman of the chapter, made the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.
NAN recalls that President Buhari on Wednesday, before the joint National Assembly disclosed that N100 billion was allocated to the judiciary in 2017 budget compared to N70 billion in the 2016 budget.
“The increase in the judiciary budget for 2017 is an improvement, but we cannot rest on our oars, judiciary needs a whole lot of funding to be able to carry out its functions effectively, including meeting the needs of the judges.
“The judiciary is the last hope of the common man, so, we must properly prepare it for it to work properly.
“Our expectations are much more and we will keep on demanding that our Judges and judiciary are well taken care of because of the sensitive nature of their work,’’ he said.
According to him, lawyers are major and critical stakeholders in the nation building as such, the judiciary must be well funded. (NAN)

That is his sole aim of seeking power...to be in charge of the sharing of the nation's resources.

Create and grow wealth is not what he wants to be saddled with.

Sycophantic imbeciles. What happened to the plan to make the Judiciary financially autonomous and independent like the executive and legislature?

Don't these legal slaves in the NBA Abuja chapter know that judicial autonomy is a cardinal federal principle?

The President fücked you up with the DSS and his handing out your own money to you and you're on all fours saying thanks.

The legislature gets its money from source like the executive, the presidency doesn't hand need to approve or allocate it.

The Judiciary has been fighting for its finance to be derived form same source as the legislature who doesn't need all allocation from the presidency and not to be dependent on the dictates of the Aso rock, which is what separation of powers entails.

The budget is an act of law and the legislature gets its funds directly from the constitution not at the chimps of the presidency. Any more questions?

What do you not understand from what I briefly and casually term " financial autonomy" in a federal system of government with separation of powers and the rule of law Nigeria practices?
