He's saying we should have more songs with moral values, even though they are tagged "secular"

Good summary

Frank Edward is on point. It is important for their sake and of the society, that they balance their songs. Music is a powerful tool that could positively or negatively impact on individuals. This is not about religion but morals.

Hard true, who can accept these words, they are the nation builders, who can reject these words, they are the ones bringing reproach to the nation, even the worldly artiste will meditate on this words, their music is not different from pornography, thumb up for frank,

most secular or worldly songs are satanic, even most secular artiste may not know this, every worldly song is dedictated to this world, and satan is the god of the world system,in dedicating your song to the world, you are actually dedicating it to lucifer the fallen angel known as satan the devil, satan will therefore bless the song with his mimshack anointing which he has(though,it has become a corrupted anointing),then within weeks and months, you will see the song trending.those that sings, and dance wordly songs are under the influence of lucifer, but,if ur secular songs has good lyrics, and can edify others, such songs glorify God,because every good things comes from God."In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,...( 1John 3:10).

How many of you ever listened to Celine Dion?

Or ADELE?

They do secular too, without vulgarity!

Different genre.

It's ridiculous for someone to desire hip-hop /pop/Afro-pop music and expect less "vulgarity".

Moreover, musicians like Timaya and Terry G started with "less vulgar" songs, but where did it get them? Nowhere. It's simple economics. Give the market what she demands.

People should understand their kind of genre before stipulating rules everywhere.

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." (1 John 2:15)."For all that is in the world,(which including wordly musics) the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." (1 John 2:16)"And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever." (1 John 2:17).

"But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." (Matthew 12:36-37).

I agree with his comments.

But unfortunately many artists will continue to make music with lyrics that cater to the general public because that's what sells. Each individual has to use their own discretion and choose who and what they want to listen to.

That's a lie, not about what sells. People don't see good music and ignore it. The population haven't just seen good music, especially this coming generation!. Okay tell me don't you like Wizkid's early in the 90's mama had me...., We actually didn't start with all these nonsense lyrics that are in vogue these days, if not Nigerian music would not have grown this much. We need to go back to the days of Originality (faze), Street credibility (2face and nice) and true love songs by Psquare and 2face.

Every one wants to always be in the news grin

Nice advice tho
He makes news with/without these. . Well, he makes great sense: the significance of music has been debased in our contemporary time.

Phi001:

You sabi English so?

Add depth to your lyric...Whitney Houston's Greatest love is secular but are there any vulgarities?

No!

Adele's Hello is secular but are there any vulgarities?

No!

In fact, Hello hit 1 billion views on YouTube... That's the most watched YouTube content ever...

You need to think before you understand!

Sorry to disappoint you sir.
Apparently you're the dean of thinking faculty in the school of thought. Omniknowest.

Music has it's different genres for the diverse target audience.

What's the significance of music sir?
To teach you morals or to please and entertain the listener?
Music is subjective and is only as good as the audience it's targeted for.

These artists mentioned gained prominence and significance from very secular, I mean raw songs/lyrics though.

Where are the real gifted singers with positive lyrics?
Femi - Bayemola
Funbi - Halleluyah?
To mention a few... Do you even know these songs? Of course they hardly even get airplay.

Just do you, period.

I don't know those people you mentioned but remember am talking of Secular music not gospels

Secular musics can be very sensible and drive home a point...... this i what am talking about. Check out their counterparts in other climes, the greatest musicians ain't necessarily the richest (even though they are crazily rich); the greatest ones are those that have command of music... talking about the likes of John legend, Adele, Lionel Richie, Justin Beiber, Bruno Mars, JayZ, Chris Brown, and even Mali Music ....... when these guys sing they drive home a point, their punchlines blow your mind and they relate to their experiences or society generally.

Now back to Nigerian music, 2face, Blackface and faze started with Plantashun boyz......... get any of the songs they made together then, play it and tell me what you think, also among the music Wizkid started with was holler at your boy, also try to listen to it and tell me what you think. Now sensible people can't listen to majority of the song majority of these guys (definitely not 2face) sing any more.... they lack depth, meaning, purpose and even musical vibes just cacophony (discordant sounds) made out of computer beats by people that don't know music.

Finally, I haerd a song by Wizkid that I think goes a long way to buttress my point of musical ineptitude ......... play ginger by wizkid and tell me what you think.
