Abuja DISCO Denies Rejecting Electricity Allocation by energywatchng: 7:03pm On Jan 02, 2017
ABUJA — The management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, has said that the company does not reject the electricity allocated to it by the System Operator, SO. Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of AEDC, Ernest Mupwaya, explained that instead of rejecting power, the company had over time taken load in excess of its allocation in order to meet customers’ demand.

Mupwaya was reacting to recent media report which listed AEDC among eight DISCOs that allegedly rejected about 1,300 megawatts of power allocated to them by the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, at different times in three months of last year. Mupwaya in statement in Abuja by the AEDC’s Head of Public Relations and Media, Ahmed Shekarau, said: “We in AEDC do not reject power allocated to us. In fact, when there is extra load in the system, we have always taken it in order to ensure that we meet the demands of our customers.

” The CEO urged the company’s customers and other members of the public to discountenance the report in the media which listed AEDC among distribution companies that rejected energy allocated to them between July and September last year.
