Nigeria: Ekiti - Judicial Review Or Political Necessity? Tagged: Governancelegal by ubath(m): 11:55am On Jan 06, 2017 |
By Tunde Opeseitan Does the action of Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose in according recognition to Segun Oni as a former governor in the state amounts to a review of decision of courts, including the apex court? Can a governor review the decision of courts in Nigeria? Or the action be viewed as a political necessity done in recognition and appreciation of "efforts of past leaders"? After serving Ekiti State for about three years as elected governor of the state, Dr Segun Oni was given a red card by the Court of Appeal in Ilorin, Kwara State. He was precisely sacked on October 15, 2010, via a judgment which many considered a popular verdict. |
