North American continent belongs to all North Americans and they work together to develop it. The continent of Europe is the pride of all Europeans and they task themselves to make it the best. Unfortunately, African continent seems not to belong to all Africans. That is why it is always backwards. To whom does it belong?

Ninety-eight per cent of the citizens from the continent of North America are fully aware that the citizens are the major stakeholders of their society, likewise ninety-eight per cent of Europeans. For this, America is on the top of the world and Europe is princess of the universe! Thus, America and Europe and some other parts of the world keep on developing on daily basis.

On the contrary, ninety-eight per cent of Africans are ignorantly convinced that the corrupt politicians in power in Africa are the private owners of the continent along with the neo-colonialists. Having gotten this mind set, whatever that happens in the continent becomes nobody’s business.

Really Africa has been privatised through amalgamation and the principle of Divide and Rule. Through amalgamation, many ethnic groups have been tied together without any dialogue and without their consent. They were brought together to fight one another for the good of the colonial masters. Through the principle of divide and rule power was handed over to one ethnic group to lord it over the others. That is how each amalgam was privatised. The issue concerning the country was completely forgotten.

Today there is this endless battle of who takes each African country into his pocket. Africans see themselves as visitors in their fatherland. Corrupt politicians hijack the opportunity and seize power. They convert the country into their private property. That is why Jammer of Gambia had the gut to say “I must not step down”. For the same reason, the president of Nigeria runs the country like his personal kitchen, ignoring the injunctions of the court of law. The South African president runs the country as his personal business. In Congo Kinshasa, it is every day new story.

Africa belongs to all Africans and not to these corrupt politicians who have privatized the continent. We must come together to restructure these amalgams in Africa in order to make them nations, if we are thinking of any meaningful development.
