hahn: Interesting, this your comment shows that you might not have a good understanding of the tax law. If an NGO have a business the business pay tax but the NGO itself would not pay tax do you get? 2 Likes |

rhektor: Well, that depends on the "source" of the capital for the "business". You and I know that the money used to build church schools are gotten from offerings, tithes and donations. Right? Is it good to now build the said schools and then charge millions for people to attend them? 5 Likes |

rhektor: That is not the point. The money was gotten from an NGO and used as capital for a "profitable" business venture Did you miss this thread? Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the FRC, Jim Obazee, at the weekend said that though only 89 out of the 23, 216 registered churches in the country have complied till date with regulations, the council would be unrelenting till the right thing is done. https://www.nairaland.com/3563364/nigerian-churches-financial-reporting-council 6 Likes 1 Share |

rhektor: Then why can't that money be channeled to scholarships for already pre-existing schools? Plus, if they contribute to these existing schools, especially in part of infrastructures likes classrooms/lecturer rooms,, hostels and the rest, won't that go a long way in improving our educational system? What's the point of constructing these schools that the masses' kids cannot afford? 2 Likes |

hahn: Not sì quick to change the topic here man. You asked a question and I answered you but you want to hide under a new thread? No man. Like I said before, if the church as an NGO has a school or any other business the business must pay tax and not the church. Don't you know the basic accounting concept "entity /entityship" a business is different from the owner no matter the legal form. 1 Like |

When the catholic church and other earlier churches were preaching moderate lifestyle irrespective of your financial and intellectual status, as one of the signs of humility (including an oath to poverty for their priests, which was the hallmark of the early christian teachings: many of the missionaries that brought christianity to africa died poor materially but rich in evangelical feats), the 'passion driven' today's preachers insisted the opposite was the way. Excessive show of material wealth took over the evangelical space and gave rise to the 'anti-christian FRC law. THE DANGER AHEAD Because of the wrong application of freely-given spiritual gifts by the ignorant 'know-it-all christians', Ecclesiastical Authority has now been technically surrendered to secular government comprising majorly atheists and islamic religion followers. If this trend is allowed to stay, where spiritual gifts are regulated by secular law, then the fate of christians in the next 10 years or more in Nigeria will be comparable to that of the early christians, which will drive many to islam as been speculated in many quarters. The implementation of the FRC law is not a redeem church problem as similar or worse controversy awaits other churches whenever it's time to change their leadership, it should rather be a source of concern to all true followers of christ that have the minutest form of vision. kateskitty: Remember that the previous Pope bfre this present one didn't die, he stepped down, he didn't say he is d pope of the world , y d new one is d pope of Rome.... Rubbish!!!..... Neither did he say he is d spiritual leader??.....how can u relinquish ur position as d G.O and still call urself d spiritual leader of the church isn't that contracditory?? I just realized that the Catholic Church accepted this law, they have no problem with it, togeda with other orthodox churches but the Pentecostal churches were d ones dragging the FG to court over the law now that they have lost, they want to stir up hate against the govt, doesn't the bible teach about obeying constituted authority?? 5 Likes |
