Nigeria Is About To Cause A Way In Gambia And These Are The Facts by phyllosilicate(m): 9:59am On Jan 19, 2017
It is frustrating to discuss issues with people who do not know the facts but insists on arguing. Let me give some numbered points on the Gambian situation:
1. The President has right to dispute election results according to Section 49 of the Gambian constitution.
2. He has 10 days after declaration of election result to file this dispute so those of you saying he should have waited for the new guy to be sworn in do not know Gambian laws.
3. This dispute to election result is to be brought before the Gambian Supreme Court. The Gambian Supreme Court get's its Judges from Nigeria and Sierra Leone. Matter of fact the head of the Court and the only person available presently is a Nigerian who lives in Gambia. Nigeria has always provide judges for this cort, it is an arrangement, but as soon as Nigeria saw that President Yahya has filed a case against the election, as he is constitutionally empowered to, Nigeria refused to send them judges.
4. What Nigeria is saying by this is that you must accept the election result, you cannot go to court even if your constitution says you can, if you don't agree we will send in soldiers to forcefully inuagurate the other guy.
5. Some will say why will President Yahya not allow Borrow be sworn in even if the court is not sitting yet, the answer is in two sections of the Gambian constitution. Section 124(1a) says that the Supreme Court shall have maximum of 30 days to decide if a person was duly elected to be President or not. Whereas Section 63(2) says that a person appointed President shall resume office 60 days after his election. What these mean is that after Borrow has until February 2 to be President, and more importantly President Yahya should have gotten a ruling on his case by January 2 if not that Nigeria frustrated his attempt to enjoy his constitutional rights. The same Nigeria was coming to negotiate peace, is that not just stupid?
NB: Accept it or not the matter is not straight forward. There is a constitutional crisis in Gambia caused by the overzealousness of the Nigerian government. They told Gambia that the judges we use to supply them were busy at a time Gambia needed us most. But our soldiers who are fighting Boko Haram are not business. They must be drafted to Gambia to rape the constitution which is an agreement of the Gambian people. Such dishonest, arrogant, nonesense!

But the man should consider the consequences of what's about to happen and just step down.

He's been in power for too long.

Buhari will not follow due process because he's upright and honest and Gambia constitution is corrupt.

U also 4get the fact that the president had agreed to step down earlier & that the president ordered for a rerun initially b4 going to court which makes his intentions quite suspicious. Also considering his past tendencies to be dictatorial the rerun would most likely be rigged.

This is getting more interesting!
This is definitely a new twist to the whole saga!
Nice one OP.

But I still think the jammeh gentleman has been in power for so long, fo the interest of peace which is supreme, he should just step down for the other man(barrow).
Gambia belongs to both of them and not only jammeh alone!
He shold emulate goodluck jonathan and step down!
Its for the best interest of his people, to avoid a civil war
