Breaking News: Oodua coalition names Lagos Gov, Ambode as Yoruba Man of the Year
By Alice Egunjobi

The Oodua Nationalist Coalition, (ONAC) has named the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode as the Yoruba Man of teh Year 2016.
A release made available to Irohinoodua hinted that Mr Ambode was picked amidst thousands of potential candidates.
The Oodua Nationalist Coalition, (ONAC) announced the 2016 winner this morning.
ONAC is a coalition of 35 Pan-Yoruba groups spread across the Yoruba speaking states with representatives in the Diaspora.
According to the group, Mr Ambode was named after an extensive consultation and debate by the Central Working Group, (CWG) of the group. ONAC was established as a coalition of Pan-Yoruba groups in 2009. The group said Amobode has given hope to millions of Yoruba people, by leading Lagos State on the part of honor and tribute. “Every ethnic group, every faith-based group and all men and women, armed and defenceless people alike are impressed by the achievements of Mr Ambode within the shortest time that he came to power. We are impressed that he has replaced despair with trust.” The release was signed jointly by ONAC’s Director of Publicity Sulaiman Oluwole and the group’s Deputy National Coordinator, Ayo Adeoye
The group stated “apart from standing up as a moral icon, Mr Ambode is leading the remarkable transformation of Lagos by building on the legacies of the past in “speedy, amazing and extraordinary and ways.” ONAC listed some of his achievements to include the massive construction of roads within the shortest time possible, the construction of flyovers and bridges which have drastically reduced human loss of lives, the setting up of the Lagos State Trust Fund, (LTF) which empowers thousands of poor and vulnerable people and the courage to legitimise Yoruba as an official means of communication in Lagos State.”
The group said Ambode is “a calm, cool and collected. He has a resolute personality. He dedicates his time and energy to critical thinking and logical approach to the complex nature of a cosmopolitan Lagos. He has lifted the tradition of excellence beyond imaginations within the shortest time possible. He should be watched as a potential leader of Nigeria and Africa.”
ONAC said that the group was impressed that less than two years after Mr Ambode came to power, he was able to initiate an agricultural process that led to the massive production of rice for the consumption of the people of Lagos which is apart from his other agrarian projects to the benefit of mankind.
“We are impressed by his sterling qualities and we have no doubt in our mind that Mr Ambode is a true embodiment of the moral fabric of a honest, dedicated and progressive Yoruba leader whose footsteps are following the legacies of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.”
