The management of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) on Saturday said there would be a nine-hour power outage in Lagos Island, Victoria Island and Ikoyi on Monday January 23.

The company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Godwin Idemudia, said this in a statement Saturday.

“We which to inform our consumers that on Monday Jan.23, between 08:00-17:00 hrs, there will be an outage on the 132kv bus-bars (outdoor) at Alagbon S/T.

“This is to enable our maintenance crew to connect the new and old sections of the 132kV bus-bars together.

“With this outage, Lagos Island, Victoria Island and Ikoyi environs will be affected.

“EKEDC highly regrets any inconvenience caused by this nine-hour outage,” Mr. Idemudia said.

What kind of silly, dirty announcement is this?? All the times there has been electricity outages on the Island, how come they have not announced it, and why are they now announcing this one? On the Lekki-Epe axis, power supply is so poor and erratic, that many homes can count the number of hours they have received power supply in a month, on the fingers of both hands.

Yet, the bills still read the same high charges, without fail. The thunder that will fire Eko Disco is still doing push up at the edge of the Lagoon..!!

At least they have informed the public but still nothing to write home about in the power sector

But you guys don't need to announce. We've been experiencye the announcement since 1914

B. E. D. C is the most useless amongst the lots.... Their license should be revoked Asap.

Where can I get a print-out of how many actual kilowatts is consumed by a user, on a monthly basis? All the Eko Disco offices around Lekki, Agungi, Lagos Island etc., are pretending not to have the information. So what do they use as the basis for calculating their estimated bills, every month? Is it 'juju or voodoo?
