Having the Gambia soldiers on ground without sanitising the security system is suicidal to Barrow, ECOWAS soldiers must ensure full security of the new President hence, their efforts will be in futile.

Try and use your head ..what is ECOWAS doing there when the issue has been resolved and Jammeh has left ..Baroque doesn't need the ECOWAS troops , all he needs to do is take control of his troops because he is their new leader

As you can see those palace guards are still loyal to jameh. Ecowas was right to assure the safety of the new president.

the "iddi amin" of gambia has ran away

only foolish soldiers will still be supporting his interest"

Nobody is supporting Jammeh's interest. This is a matter of sovereignty.

You expect the soldiers to vacate their posts and hand over the seat of power to foreigners?

Come on.. Jammeh is gone.. Ecowas troops have no business in Gambia..

Senegal is just using this as an excuse to increase their influence over Gambia.

Have u ever thought that he could enter without the ECOWAS troop and get killed when he has not chosen his own trust guards?

All Barrow needs to do is order a change of guards at the Palace afterall he is their commander in chief ..Barrow needs to affirm his authority now and stop relying on ECOWAS if not he will be on a long thing

That's not going to happen , he is now their commander in chief and all he needs to do is order a change of guards in that palace ..

Why not go there and ask the ECOWAS soldiers to leave? Dilector Kanu's thinking has affected many of you Liepods.

Some of these guys are just foolish. They expect the new President to just resume and start using Jammeh soldiers and loyalist as personal security

The ECOWAS forces will be their till the new President feel totally secured and their countries permit them to stay.

He needs the ECOWAS force while he builds confidence in his own military as most of those soldiers have been very loyal to his predecessor and a security risk...Caution is not fear!

So, Ecowas Forces existe? then where were they since Boko boys in Nigeria and the jihadist in the north Mali have been terrorising the innocent population? Useless forces. I suggest they should, from Gambia moves them straight to the north Mali and sambisa forest.

Those guards may just assassinate the new President. They should stand down.

The state house Guards are special army recruit units of Yahyah Jammeh from his home town. Those guys would be out of job and will face prosecution just like the Junglers(the presidential killing unit or highly skilled assassins). If they are not discharged/fired or relieve of duty, the life of the incoming president is not safe.Adama Barrow and Ecowas knows this, this is why he is still in Senegal even after Jammeh has ran away. The fear of Jammeh is the beginning of good things, the place should be made condusive before Barrow steps in if not there would be sour story.Like it or not, believe it or not,Jammeh still has a strong footprint in Gambia.22 years as president both Militarily and as a Civilian is not helping novice Barrow.

Jammeh is the subject of ECOWAS military action, now that he's abdicated, they should respect the sovereignty of Gambia cuz with or without Jammeh, the military remains the military.

Reports from Gambia say Economic Community of Waest African States (ECOWAS) coalition forces who have been on stand by in Senegal have moved into Gambia with a view to securing strategic positions. According to journalist and Human Rights activist, MamaLinguere Sarr, there was a standoff as soldiers at the State House negotiated to hand over to the ECOWAS forces after arrival..

Civilians who gathered outside the presidential palace were reportedly in support of the ECOWAS forces and angry with the soldiers for supporting former president Yahya Jammeh before his exile and also urged them to open the gate for the troops to take control ahead of the new president, Adama Barrow's arrival from Senegal.

It has now been proven beyond doubt that Gambia is the worst African country and has the most useless military in Africa. ECOWAS or not, they should never have allowed foreign forces invade their country forcefully without any regard for their sovereignty. Where was ECOWAS and the UN when Abacha denied MKO Abiola his presidential victory? Why didn't they invade Nigeria annd see if our military won't bomb them back to the shithole they came from. Bunch of hypocrites. What Jammeh did was undoubtedly wrong but what ECOWAS did was even worse. They should have allowed Gambia to solve their own political gridlock internally and provided diplomatic support only without any forceful, unsolicited, unconstitutional invasion with foreign armies. I think the world would progress faster when stronger countries stop invading weaker countries whenever it suits their own agenda only

Both sets of soldiers are doing the right thing.

They both need orders from their respective commanding officers before standing down.

Military is about discipline.

1. Their commander in chief has already ordered all Gambian soldiers back into their barracks, with further orders to remain there.

2. Their immediate commander, Ansumana Tamba, left Gambia along with his boss, Jammeh. On the very same flight. These boys are being unruly and should be court martialed.

You are talking here like say African man dey fear sanctions... how many African leaders has ever been defeated with sanctions? The masses will only die for nothing, abeg, leave matter..... how did sanctions work against Mugabe, Abacha, Samuel Doe, Idi Amin ? force is the only language a black man in Africa understands!

If he takes over a Republican Guard devoted to the former President and comprised of his Mandinka tribesmen, he will will dead by nightfall. This is Africa not western Europe. The President Elect in his inaugural address has already asked State House guards to lay down their weapons and said thay those who don't will be considered rebels. The rest of the Gambian army has complied including the heads of the army and navy.

ECOWAS simply want a bloodless changeover. There are only 500 state house guards pinned down in a building, against 7000 men with far superior air power. It's not even guerilla warfare. It's a turkey shoot.

If Jammeh had actually fled the country, the ECOWAS ought to have seen their goal as being achieved and stop further incursion.

By the way in order to exhaust the budget for the purpose they have to throw caution into the wind.
how do people reason? Do you know the instructions Jammeh may have left behind? Or you forgot these people worked with him for years and many will definitely still be loyal to him? You allow Barrow to just go to such a high tension? For your info, Barrow controls nothing in the country at the moment. You think you have more sense than that of the whole of every member of ECOWAS and international security outfits combined?
