If Jammeh had actually fled the country, the ECOWAS ought to have seen their goal as being achieved and stop further incursion.

By the way in order to exhaust the budget for the purpose they have to throw caution into the wind.
their job doesn't end at seeing Jammeh out but also maintaining peace till Barrow takes full control and the country makes a recovery cos the armed forces as it is right now is polarized

That's not going to happen , he is now their commander in chief and all he needs to do is order a change of guards in that palace ..

lol. This could have been taken straight from the first page of the textbook called "how to get killed on your first day on the job". The Republican National Guards, are fanatically loyal to Jammeh and in fact, they are mostly recruited from his tribe. Some of them were even spotted crying as Jammeh left. Now what we have here are fanatical followers, well trained and well armed, with an emotional interest to defend.

Btw, the republican guard number about the same as the rest of the regular army so the regular army cannot be relied upon to subdue them.

I disagree with you.
Don't you know that the real enemies of democracy are the soldiers that urged Jammeh to stay put? This people can kill Borrow and throw the country into crisis.
Until all the state guards are removed, the new president is not safe.

So that jahmeh's loyalists can assassinate him? He needs a least a month to replace jahmeh's guards with his own loyalists

The Palace Guards should know that once their Oga don go exile, their job is over.
