a lot of them practice beer palour economics thats why, if having a large population is the baine of the problem ..what of small population countries that are poor like haiti and co, the key is in making policies that give a competitive advantage and following through irrespective of political ethnic or religious difference.the ground is open for all..

Germany and several EU countries are opening their borders to refugees in a bid to increase population and declining birth rates .

The zombies above never factored that Nigeria's top economy position in Africa is largely dependent on market size- a function dependent on population.

With the size of Ghana Nigeria should have been a first world country.......

US is twice the size of Nigeria, China both in land mass and population dwarfs Nigeria. Russian and Indian as well.

Based on your logic Nigeria should be better.

Ghana is a nation, Nigeria is not.

Ghana is at peace with itself, Nigeria is at war with itself.

Ghana will naturally progress while Nigeria will naturally retrogress from trying to kill development in hated subregions of itself.

What you have observed between Nigeria and Ghana will only continue indefinitely, until Nigeria restructures and becomes one nation in truth.

Best comment so far.

The problem is the system of Government Nigeria is practicing, we claim to practice federalism which costs alot to sustain, most of these countries practice Unitarianism including Ghana, Britain, Switzerland and the rest.

Our major problem is the tribal and cultural differences, we are too voluminous to be merged as one country, as someone had earlier stated, we want to copy US that has gone far in both human and technological development in practicing Democracy which cost alot to sustain.

Also, our leaders in the helm of affairs aren't helping matters, they keep looting the economic resources and practising sectional politics, so tell me why the development rate won't be slow?

Again for those saying the size of the country is not a factor, I need u all to go back to your map, tho our major problem is the tribal, religious and ethnic differences we have here, compare it with foreign nations some of u are calling and u would understand why we are lagging behind.

Ghana gained independence in 1957, so considering how homogeneous and small the country is compared to Nigeria, their rate of development is even slow without any civil war like we faced.

Deal with that!
