The South-east Asian nation Singapore has its history dating from about the third century AD. We are not going into all that. We want to concentrate our research from the time the nation got its independence from Britain till the time she celebrated her fifty years of independence in 2015.

She got her independence from Britain on July 9 1963. On the same day, it signed the Malaysia Agreement with Malaya and other colonies to form the Federation of Malaysia. She saw this move for merger with Malaya as a breakthrough. On 16 September 1963, the Merger took place and the Federation of Malaysia was formed. How did it go with Singapore? We shall see as we go along.
