Religion Karl Max said Religion is the opium of the masses and nowhere can this be felt much but northern Nigeria which embraced the Wahabbist Islamic doctrine that makes the citizen to depend on Allah for everything and see everything as the will of Allah. Northern Nigeria today is so immersed in Islamic religion which has conservatism as its core value that when other parts of Nigeria wants to bring in liberalusm they shoot it down because they see it as a clash with their religion. A typical example was the Miss World pageant that was to be hosted in Abuja but was cancelled because of Islamist rogues who rioted and it had to be cancelled and moved somewhere else. Imagine the tourism potential that was lost 11 Likes 3 Shares |

Population Population can be blessing to the Chinese but it has been the reverse to the North today. Thomas Malthus gave a doomsday prediction about Britain then on their rising population but invariably he was talking to Northern Nigeria whose population is on a geometrical rise while basic amenities and infrastructure are growing arithmetically. The Northern population if not checked will continue to place a burden on the scarce resources of the South. The problem is that the northern population has a 80% illiterate and dependency population which is mostly unskilled. There should be birth control in the North and also the government and wealthy individuals should invest massively in education to nip the population catastrophe that's on the horizon 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Illiteracy: Education is the bedrock of everything today but the North has not deem it fit to invest in Education. The menace of Boko Haram today can be attributed to illiteracy and poverty. The Government needs to invest more on western styled education to move the people into the 21st century. The South is bearing the brunt of Northern illiteracy with the FG introducing quota system to push the northerners up in government establishment thereby jettisoning meritocracy and embracing mediocrity 11 Likes 2 Shares |

Some social facts up there! But they have also had assistance from a lot of people from other tribes....these are points they should study and use in saving themselves...because at the end of the day all their political advantages over the years have not translated to productivity in their region or amongst their people! Time to go left! 1 Like |

Kathmandu: What myopic balderdash. How did the postponement of the Miss World pageant in Abuja (in fact it was Kaduna not Abuja) held back or stopped development in your hell hole region? How did opposition to the wanton display of near naked young female bodies in the north affect your progress? What stupidity! 6 Likes |

Kathmandu: Another idiotic fallacy. Northerners are predominantly farmers and majority of that population you spoke of are actively engaged in ensuring national food security that is probably responsible for keeping some of you well fed. How can those who contribute significantly to the GPD (which essentially is the engine that drives the economy) be considered as dependant and a burden to scarce resources - when they are in fact significant contributors to national GDP (by themselves as a ppl and from what they produce - pls don't start yapping the usual song of oil, because oil contributes less than 15% to the GDP). BTW, if the northern population is a curse; why then are you guys going to the extremes of breeding yourselves like farm animals in various baby factories and selling your babies for as little as 20K? Lastly, you ought to know that education isn't everything but natural intelligence is - I need not have to remind you of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Dangote etc; all of them non-graduate billionaires and heads of their own conglomerates employing thousands of supposed educated individuals like yourself. We are equally aware of so called educated ppl with PhDs from the south like GEJ and his wife Mama Peace and how they constituted a national disgrace and made this country the laughing stock of the international community. They were not only a disgrace to themselves but also a disgrace to their educational institutions and other holders of the qualifications they allegedly possess - though it is not too difficult to fathom how they might have obtained their certificates. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Kathmandu: Population of the north is only "rising" on paper. A true census is impossible in Nigeria since the sharing of Niger Delta oil resources is based on purported population size. Therefore, the north dominating the civil service etc, will ALWAYS cite huge bogus population figures to get a lion share of other peoples' resources. 2 Likes |

The paramount factor to northern retrogression and incurable backwardness is Islam. Be careful to point out islam in itself and not religion. Other societies and developed nations do practice religion but still advance in all spheres of life. Islam is d only apex factor that controls all other factors and has in itself ensured that majority of the northerners don't achieve their god given potentials. 3 Likes |

ItsMeAboki: You can just imagine their desperation in spreading their well organised prostitution all over the places. If the North disagrees with hosting the so-called beauty pageantry despite its "potential benefits", how does that stop them (South) from "developing"? If the North's relative educational backwardness is holding back the country, why can't they compensate with their progressive activities such as armed robbery, rituals, prostitution, drug and human trafficking, etc? Yes, I said "relative" because it is not as if they are actually as educated as they are trying to sound since literacy in English is what they mostly refer to as education. Otherwise, what exactly has been their education-based contribution that has not been proportionately matched by Northerners? Is it engineering, medicine, law, accountancy, architecture that the North cannot provide sufficient number? On population, you will see them bleating upandan when the results of the next population census is announced despite their submissions here. 2 Likes |
