Breaking NewsEight die in fresh crisis in Bauchi
Eight persons including two soldiers were feared dead today in renewed sectarian strife in Bauchi State.

Members of a religious group, Kalakato, were said to have gone on the rampage in a bid to avenge the killings of some members of the Boko Haram sect about six months ago.

Two members of the group and four children aged between two and six are among the casualties.

The children were burnt in a house they sought refuge.

The Federal Low Cost Housing neighbourhood at Zango in the Bauchi metropolis was a no go area as armed soldiers and riot policemen battled the fundamentalists.

The area was the scene of a similar skirmish last February 18.

Soldiers and policemen are patrolling the street to restore normalcy

Let Government try their best to stop all these challenges in North.

Instead of them to base JTF in the North, their brothers who have impoverished them are busy fighting for oil money while the building blocks for terrorism are being cast. Talk of a country with misplaced priorities.

North will not station JTF in the North. Instead, state of emergency will be declared in The SOuth-South under the nose of figure head VP.

Nigerian police clash with members of Islamic sect
Mon Dec 28, 2009 3:23pm GMT

(Reuters) - Nigerian security forces clashed with members of an Islamic sect in the northern city of Bauchi on Monday, police said.
Residents said as many as eight people were believed to have been killed, including two soldiers, in fighting between members of an Islamic sect armed with machetes and the security forces in a low-cost housing area on the outskirts of the city.

Police declined to comment on any casualties.

"It was a minor misunderstanding between a religious sect and the public, but the situation has now been brought under control, normalcy has returned to the town," national police spokesman Emmanuel Ojukwu said.

There have been periodic bouts of religious violence in recent years in Nigeria, roughly divided into a predominantly Muslim north and Christian south, but the unrest has generally been motivated by rivalry over resources or local politics.

and our stoopid leaders would come to sit together, acting all ignorant, wondering where that Abdulmutallab terrorist dude brew his terrorist notions from. This country is not worth the collective noun; country. We're just stuck in a dog-eat-dog situation.

The question is how? It offended me greatly to see the term failed state associated with the country but under cold and dispassionate consideration that is exactly what it is.
