Here are tips I think would help anyone who finished his/her service year secure a good job or get you busy till you actually get that dream job.
1. Blogging: With the little money saved from your service year, you can open up a blog where you make post with specific niche and news to be paid through Goggle AdSense. This is a very lucrative online business because you are paid according to how focused you are in your site which entails constant posting of current and genuine news. Opening a blog site might just take up a sum of 30-35,000 naira depending on the webmaster. Using a self-hosted platform like blogger are mostly affordable. With enough traffic and genuine article on your site, you are good to go in no time you will start earning from your AdSense account. Google pays active bloggers depending on reaching payment threshold which stands at $100.
2. Importing goods from Cotonou: Also with the little money saved up in your service year ,you can start buying fairly used products from Cotonou or any neighboring Nigerian country be it shoes, bags, cloths , etc and selling them in any state you reside in .There is that challenge of getting a shop to sell these goods would I know would be very costly considering the small amount of money you have at hand but you can actually sell these goods at roadsides and before you would know it, you would have gotten enough proceeds from your trade to rent a shop. Now, I know it is very demeaning and embarrassing for a graduate to be seen selling goods at the roadside but Hey! Uneasy lays the head that wears the crown. This trade actually pays because I’ve seen people who took care of their whole extended family and also built a huge house just by doing this trade. Another thing to bear in mind when starting this business is to tag with someone who is already into it so as to show you the ropes you need for a successful business in the trade.
3. Part-time Jobs: There are many construction companies where minor workers are needed to perform various kinds manual workers are needed to perform varying degrees of menial jobs. You can take up these part-time works pending when the real work comes out. Just like the saying “an idle mind is the devils workshop”, it is very pertinent to do these menial works even though the pay is very menial, at least it will help keep you busy for the main time.
4.Get a professional course: be it a master’s degree or a second degree, it is very necessary you push yourself higher in terms of educational background as this will actually give you an advantage when you actually find that dream job and also an edge over your colleagues who are also applying for same job.
5. Entrepreneurship: This is one that I strongly advocate for .Are you good in Hairstyling, tailoring, bead making, fixing of nails etc be you a male or female, do not be afraid to develop yourself in this field, you will actually be surprised at the kind of money you will make once you are finally devoted to improving and practicing your entrepreneur skills.
Or what do you think?…………
