Lauretta Onochie's Recent Outbursts. by Nobody: 11:26am On Apr 09, 2017
1.Attach to this write up is a comment by President Buhari's adviser on Social Media, Ms Lauretta Onochie. This from what I learned in response to Ena Ofugara's attempt to brand Anioma people as non Igbos. Ena is an Urhobo and should concentrate on uniting and advancing his Urhobo people. Isokos who are ethnically Urhobos but are politically non-Urhobos ought to be his focus. The Ndosumilis and Ukwuanis use Igabo on both Urhobos and Isokos implying that they are of one stock. That should be his focus and not to get himself involved in issues which I think does not concern him.

2. For Lauretta, it was yet another opportunity to bash Igbos and tell them, using her flagship "we are Aniomas period!". While is busy asking Igbo people what Igbo means, she did not bother to tell Ena what Anioma means in which context Anioma ought to be used. Anioma is a political name and was created as a pan west Igbo political platform by the likes of Chief Dennis Osadebay, Chief Ogoegbunem Dafe, Obi Nosike Ikpo and many other notables. It was never a name of a brand new "ethnic group". This is why it is often associated with a State which of course is a political unit of administration. So Lauretta does not know the meaning and context of Anioma not to talk of the entire Igbo race. She is just doing what many others like her did before hoping that we forget one day. But we are watching.

3. Lauretta who does not know the meaning of Anioma but boasts that she knows the meaning of Igbo because "we gave them the name" should elaborate and tell us what it means and show us when and how "we" gave them the name. I hope she will not tell us that it comes from "IGBON" the Edo word for slave. Anioma people do not call slaves "Igbon". Those that do borrowed it from from the Edo and we are gradually discading its usage. Our native names for slaves is Ohu(n) among the Ikas and Aniochas(Enuanis) and Osu among the Ukwuanis and Abohs.

4. From her comments, it is apparent that her hatred of any thing Igbo was not enough to use her sense of discretion properly. Why? In Anioma, several places bear "Igbo". The founder of Ogwashi has "igbo" in his name. There are places like Igbuzor and Akwukwu-Igbo. And since she has gotten herself in Ubulu Uku Obiship dispute (which by the way does not concern her) her informants in Ubulu Uku ought to tell her that there is an "Ogbeigbo" quarter in Ubulu Uku. There is even a community called "Akwukwu Igbo" which is stone throw from her own community in Onicha Olona. Maybe her family unit in Onicha Olona gave Akwukwu Igbo people their name. Who knows? lol.

5. As for the so-called "historian" from Ibusa, he should ask Lauretta what Igbo means , perhaps in the update of his plagiarized work, he should include it. I would like to see if there is another version to the origin of the word. Imagine a historian which he likes to call himself with no sense of criticism. He just copies and paste from what he gets from people rather than analyzing and criticizing/commenting any source which any historian ought to do. Any historian ought to know that words in one language could mean a completely different thing is another language. We use "Oba" for a yam rack but our neighbors use the same word and tonal pronunciation for their monarchs. That is not enough for me to claim that w gave them that name and suggest that the Oba got that name/title because he could amass a great deal of yam racks. He should act as a historian and educate Ms Onochie.

6. Igbo people know the meaning of the word and according to notable historians such as late Prof Adiele Afigbo, places named "Igbo" such as Igbo-Ukwu or Amaigbo believe that it is the name of their eponymous ancestor and it was only a question of time before the word diffused to what we now define as Igbo land.

7. Another thing, why are they so infatuated with the Igbo people? Most of what they write is Igbo, criticize is Igbo, talk about is Igbo, sleep over is Igbo etc. Why are they not talking of other areas and other ethnic groups?

8. This is just my opinion. Many actors of shameful events do it because by default the African is very forgiving and forgets easily. This is not a bad feature but it should not always apply and this is where the white people are better than us. They hardly ever forget and they learn from it and in some cases, they never forgive. The likes of Lauretta does what she is doing now because she hopes we forgive her one day. But
Nigerians are beginning to see the kind of person she is. We all saw her hypocrisy during petrol induced riots in the last administration.

9. As an addendum, I suggested to Lauretta to prove her popularity via the ballot box and contest for any leective position starting with Onicha Olona her home town. But the fact is that she would not dare to do that. Because she will lose her polling booth not to talk of her polling unit or the ward

Anioma means good land in both South Eastern Igbo, Enuani, Ukwuani and even Ika language. Although, the six letter is an acronym that represents the groups that makes Anioma today.... Some mischivous elements within are trying hard to sow seed of division because of oil politics.
I hope that the pan Igbo Anioma brothers will work hard into documenting their history so that posterity will not blame them. Thank God for that Ibulu Ukwu Historical document that is out. That book alone will do justice to lies and propaganda that is been peddled by political jobbers.
