President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the suspension of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, David Babachir Lawal over allegations of violation of law and due process in the award of the contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE).

The Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ayo Oke has also been suspended over the discovery of large amounts of foreign and local currencies by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at a residential address at Osborne Towers Ikoyi which the NIA claims ownership of.

This was announced in a press release made by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

A 3-man committee headed by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo comprising of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of justice, Abubakar Malami as well as the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno is to conduct investigations regarding these 2 scandals that have rocked the Buhari administration. They are to determine if any laws were violated, offences committed and identify any security breaches that might have occurred particularly regarding the discovery foreign and local currency estimated to be worth N13 billion in a flat at Osborne Towers Ikoyi.

The committee is to submit its report to President Buhari in 14 days.

President Buhari takes his time to make decisions but when he strikes, he is very decisive. Noisemakers should find something else to whine about.
