"Umuahia—AS Nigerians engage themselves in a debate over America’s decision to place Nigeria and its citizens under serious watch on account of the botched bomb attack by a Nigerian citizen, the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has thrown its weight behind America, saying its action was in order.

MASSOB meanwhile, claimed that Nigeria as a state is a terror to Biafrans.

“Currently, we are being killed, our shops, investments and establishments are been looted, destroyed and set ablaze while our vehicles are vandalized in the Northern part of Nigeria. The mobile police unit of Nigeria police force scattered all over Biafra land kills at random and engaged in extra-judicial killings.

The presence of ‘Operation Messa’ squad of Nigeria Military like in a war situation in Biafra land is a terror to our people.

“Farouk  Abdulmutallab is just one among (alleged) thousands of conventional and international terrorists of Northern Nigeria origin, who are directly or indirectly controlled, sponsored, supervised, supported and directed by some Islamic religious and traditional leaders, some political leaders and businessmen secretly, with foreign Islamic countries backing them financially and materially,” the group said in a statement by Mr Uchenna Madu, its Director of Information."

Although i agree with the article I believe it is a very cheap ploy to gain recognition.

Now this is more legitimate than a faceless and demented Becomrich chanting a dubious support for the USA by Yorubas. grin
The other thread was locked for lack of link. Let's see how this one fares.

It is obvious that you dont live in the South East . . . .
Better be informed that the group had already gained strong recognition.

Nobody is denying the fact that MASSOB is not recognized but my grouse is why take this opportunity to gain unwarranted recognition A.K.A aligning with the US like they'll grant your wish??

Yes, they are, but they have not been systematically exterminating Christians to the tune of millions from the time of Lugard amalgamation to the present. Nigeria is really a text book case of Islamic extremism. The difference is that Nigerian Muslims have cleverly kept their genocidal acts to within the Nigerian borders. Now, one of them have exported it and the world is only beginning to pay close attention to them. This is only the beginning. So, calm down and enjoy the ride.  grin

I agree with this again like I did the threadstarter's however I believe MASSOB's decsion to share centre stage with the US is wrong.

I didn't read that they wanted to share any stage at all with the US. They only took a position, an official position on the issue. It is important, bearing in mind that Nigeria is not interested in addressing internal issues which led to the Farouk Mutallab terrorist incident. Until we have a country, all groups must make proper representations on international issues. If they don't, they risk being lobbed together when the real showdown begins. Just being real.

You don't expect them to spell it out. Do you??

Why make a statement and then reference the US??
MASSOB can do better than that.

We all condemn Mutallab's actions. However for MASSOB to endorsed the US 'blacklisting' Nigeria is plain stu.pid.
They were just following MEND's example without intelligently analyzing the situation and understanding the difference between both scenarios.

Hmmmmm. Bros there is no difference between the two scenarios oooooooooooooo . . terrorism na terrorism.
Nigerian really deserves the list. . . At least MMA workers can now watch more pornoooo grin
Re: Terror Watch List: Massob Backs U.S. by XKZ(m): 7:22pm On Jan 07, 2010
Scenario 1: MEND condemns the terrorist and blames FG for not checking religious extremism.
Scenario 2: MASSOB endorses US blacklisting Nigeria over Mutallab's actions.

Verdict: Copying without sense (eg. those who copy your answers plus your name during exams).

PS: Based on Mutallab's actions alone, I don't think Nigeria deserves to be on the list.

You come across as the one who have not intelligently analyzed the situation and understood the difference between what MEND and MASSOB stand for respectively and why this press release is one of the best shots MASSOB has ever taken.
In case you dont know, MASSOB is seeking for a sovereign state while MEND is only seeking for resource control. . . hence why MEND's statement may not be as disturbing to those who have been living lives of denial.

As much as I dont agree with the Massob's statement, the reasons they gave are undebatable!

Here are some excerpts:
Currently, we are being killed, our shops, investments and establishments are been looted, destroyed and set ablaze while our vehicles are vandalized in the Northern part of Nigeria. True. Both organizations have different objectives, but it is those who think they live in Biafra that are living lives of denial. As long as you are Nigerian there is a need to protect your identity.
