While I agree that Oil Coys should relocate their HQ to Niger Delta, I must also admit that we have the duty of ensuring that the region is safe for these companies.
It is not enough for Ijaw groups and stakeholdera to spit fire against the REPS, what are they doing to dissuade Ijaw and Niger Delta people against kidnapping, blowing of facilities and general perpetration of crimes against the Oil coys? The action of NDA in 2016 and other groups was a bad omen to the region.
There is injustice against our people but we also have our own role to play. Two wrongs don't make a right.

There is no sense in the bolded. The cow skins gotten from the north are they stolen or they are bought? Would the Chinese firm or the aba shoe makers need to deplete farmlands, steal the cows and skin them or they simply buy the cow leathers at fair prices??

The oil companies are not all that innocent. You do not live in the host communities and are obviously not from the Niger Delta so i suggest you make enquiries about the pollution and degredation that Shell and its likes have done to our lands or keep mum in this issue. So they can deplete and destroy our lands but not locate their headquarters there?,

Is it only in Nigeria that oil is explored such that pollution is rampant?

Is it not the same global standard of exploration and production used?

Why is our own different?

You are now beginning to sound like a broken record. I will not keep going back and forth as I have things to do.

Like I said, if those oil companies cannot locate their headquarters in the Niger Delta then they can as well go drill their oil in Borno.
Your talk is IMPOTENT and EMPTY. They have been drilling before you were born and will continue long after you are dead . Go and relocaate them

If it's unsafe for them to relocate Thier offices to the region it should also be unsafe for them to operate Thier facilities in the regoin. Employment comes from the office and they end up bringing people of other regions to eat fat There while the indegeins are given cheap labour opportunities. Let them do the ryt thing.

No government tells an investor what region to put his investment.
Over the years, derivation formula has been used to share revenue, many governors in those states have not used it wisely.
Second oil companies pays the Petroleum profit tax to FG.
Third, there is no principle that states that you must locate your company where the resources are.
Fourth, the most functional ports( air and sea) are in Lagos, hence, they are more inclined to move there.
Fifth, there are other regions with oil apart from S/S at least there is one in the S/W and 2 in the S/E.
Further more Lagos has even discovered oil in some parts.
Gentleman of the ND,I don't live in the region but I know that the so called leaders in your state have not done much good to the state. Before the IOCs relocate they need assurance that their investments won't go down the drain.
Until then.

That is a good question you ask but IT IS THEIR BUSINESS. Hausa people come to sell tomatoes evryday in Lagos no one made anyy law to make them have offices in Lagos.

No one made any law to make the oil companies locate to Lagos or Abuja.
Dangote akes his cement in Kogi and Ogun State why does he not locate there. certainly such a law will have implications for him.

The Nolly movie producers sell most of their movies in Alaba.Does anyone insist they must make their movies in Lagos. Who do the Igbo traders recruit to sell in their shops in Lagos ?Who do Suya makers recruit to make suya.
Will the Catholic church be forced to relocate to Enugu. What about JAMB should it relocate?

The decision of where to locate is an ECONOMIC decision and ONLY the company knows what is good for it No one forceed the to go to their current locations

Our people are the cause of their own problems and they deserve whatever they're getting. It is all about money money money for them. If this same Oil companies now decide to move,it is the same people that will start giving them unecessary bills to pay before they can start work. Do you know how much shell alone pays all the unemployed youths in the communities they operate on a monthly basis?....if the money is a day late, there is always problem. You will now tell them to Move their HQ to that kind of region?.. impossible!

Businesses like to be close to the banks that is the Koko. If Nigeria had electricity and good telecomms then businesses do not have to be physically present in Lagos to access the bank

After all is said and done the oil companies want to get paid, count their money and move it abroad. Right now the best place they can do that from is Lagos and Abuja

Guy this your comment is very regrettable. You mean that the oil fields are located in Lagos or Abuja? Or the oil field here is being drill by robots which is impossible to be kidnapp or kill by militants? If they can drill oil here and sell it without their platform being bomb, then i see no reason why they shld not relocate to the state that the oil is gotten from.
I knw you are not from Niger Delta.

The emboldened is wrong bro. In the US, the people own their oil and land, not the government. If your father has a land where oil is found, it becomes yours and that of your unborn kids. That is how it is done in the US. The reason the ND is angry is because of the neglects in their region but they are not supposed to hold the federal government responsible alone but include their kinsmen as well.

your narrative is different from the subject matter.

These oil companies are taking resources from the land of people of the delta under FG arrangement, they are supposed to show sincerity by fully based in the delta instead of being selfish, self centred and exploitative from a distance where they recruit none indegines to work in the delta and pay royalties to states where their offices are.

first, the naija deltans have to get rid off criminals posing as militant fighters....the delta gets 13% more from sales of oil already and could get more through legal ways......

they have no excuse for their criminals.........

the delta gets 13% more than other states but is still underdeveloped...nothing will change even if they get 50% or more....

and the south east should bloody stay away from this matter....nobody sendt the south easteners to talk for us...

then they should remove all their pipelines from the unsafe region and take it to where their headquarters is that is safe. APC government think they are wise, they're just buying time for the bigger fight that will soon start in the Creeks

Shell left Warri and the place became almost a ghost town...other companies are getting ready to write off investments then exit the Niger Delta region.

Your assumption that companies with heavy investments cannot leave that region is wrong

If there would be no equity and justice in Nigeria then I'm afraid the day of the reckoning is fast approaching. I'm afraid because the minds coming out of the South-South are far more dangerous than what we have witnessed in this country. Militancy would be child's play.
You all keep politicking to favour your dead zones and then rub it on our faces. In due time.
