I voted for this President, and support his commitment to ridding this country of corruption.
But, sometimes even your best person can let you down.
And in this instance, this "coordinating" thing cannot be seen as anything but mischief.
What was wrong with the "act on my behalf" term he used in the first letter?
Sad that Buhari would yield to this backward and perverse mentality of the people surrounding him.
What exactly are people struggling for? Sectional dominance? To what end, and for how long.
Only good governance will bring about peace, progress and equity for ALL.

Buhari does not have to transmit power to Osibanjo. The constitution confers that power on Osibanjo. I don't understand why people are getting this mixed up.
The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is supreme to any individual/group's constitutional abracadabra.
There is no constitutional provision for a coordinator and Buhari cannot invent positions outside of the constitution. Legal scholars can argue on the matter of choice of words.

Nigeria Constitution.Chapter IV, Section 145 and 146 settle this confusion. Each time the President is going on vacation or becomes incapacitated, the VP automatically becomes the Acting President. The only constitutional requirement is that the President must transmit a letter that he is going on vacation OR unable to discharge his functions. And until he transmits another letter to the contrary, the VP assumes the role of the President. In other words, if Buhari comes back into the country, he must transmit another letter before resuming as the president. The 1999 Constitution "clearly" states that.

Or am I missing something? That's why we have a Constitution.

Buhari had always wanted to become a civilian president (whether to revenge his 1985 ouster or just for the sake of it, one cannot really say).

He swore not to contest after the 2011 elections, but quickly went back on that promise.

An overtly ambitious man will do just anything to get there, including barefaced lies.
