The Rivers State chapter chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bro Felix Obuah has called on the Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom to throw in the towel if he cannot cope with the task of leading the highly deprived people of Benue State.

Surprised and sad that the embattled governor of Benue State being ravaged by the activities of herdsmen is still indebted to the State civil servants to over nine months of unpaid salaries, and 10 months unpaid salaries of local government employees, Bro Obuah said there is no other way of telling the people that he can no longer cope with the task of governance as the state chief executive than his inability to address the multiple predicaments of the State and non-payment of salaries of workers.

The State PDP chairman berated Governor Ortom for failing to take advantage of an earlier call on him by the PDP to visit the State for some tutorials on leadership and development strategies under Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, which he lacks as Governor and which is responsible for the woes of the State under his watch.

It would be recalled that over 15 local government areas of Benue State out of the 23 councils have been overrun by the Fulani herdsmen, leaving governor Ortom helpless.

It would also be recalled that Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue is currently owing over 9 months salaries to civil servants, 10 months salaries to local government employees and 12 months of pension arrears to pensioners

River state and Wike with enormous criminals, homicide and kidnapping activities staring at him remained unresolved, yet you flied over states to dabble into another great clownish affairs.. Removed the log in your eyes before making jest of your neighbours cataract..

You can say Ortom is incompetent but the Fulani influence within our defense structure is hard to overcome for a minority tribe or people. After Benue, it could be Ijaw's rich and fertile land next. Every other tribe must team up to stop Fulani men from all over North Africa from over-running Nigeria gradually. We have no border up north.

Many of these Governors including the president are just one term leaders, for sure some of them will never smell re-election. The chaffs will be separated from the fine grain come 2019. Buhari already is aware of his political demise.

Everyone knows Ortom is a complete failure.

But Rivers PDP should be more concerned about the infrastructural development of Rivers state.

Wike and his men keeps Ortorm a bloodied nose. Well, the Ortom of a guy surely deserves it.

Thank you for this comment. What is going on in Benue State is really sad and painful. The Gov needs to brace up for the challenges. It is no easy task, but all he needs to do is to confront those issues courageously. The IGR of Benue State when added to monthly allocation from the FG should be enough to pay salaries. But all we keep hearing from BNSG is decrease in monthy allocation with increase in State wage bill. One wonders how the wage bill keeps increasing without employment for over 8 yrs. It is a clear case of high cost of governance. Even PAs to the Gov also have their own PAs. It is very funny. The issue of Fulani terrorists only God knows.
