Most of them were academy players born into those clubs who's skills and philisophies were planted by those clubs. And all are original citizens of those countries. If you have noticed Nigerian players raised in Nigeria and Nigerian players raised abroad donot play the same way. Like when you are transiting schools across continents, most often you have to take a preliminary course or class to bring you up to speed. Only the exceptional percentile of players can cross footballing cultures and impact instantly at such a young age. He made a mistake going to City, period.

Comparing him to the likes of Raul and Giggs instead of the best of africa like Drogba, Essien, Kanu, McCarthy, Abedi or Weah is just empty thinking..... apples and oranges if you ask me. The problem with blacks in general is that they donot study to achieve. If he had proper counselling he should have been led down the path of successful african exports with a view to 'bettering' what they did right and avoiding their pitfalls. But so often pride and greed will not permit absolute success. He just wasted two years for nothing. Wish him the best though. Great player in the making.

Will any player go to these clubs and say he is going to a top club. How about managers or sponsors. Will they consider themselves sponsoring st etienne as a former europe top team. Only takeover tycoons looking to get bargain deals for nostslgic reasons will buy into them.

Ajax as a club has shrunk from the hey days of the 90's when UEFA regularly rated it in the top 5. It is no longer considered as a top club and classic characteristics include: The inability to attract and keep top talent in the form of players and managers that is, it engages only academy types or dutch retirees seeking to end their careers at the place of their birth.
