THE IMPORTANCE OF MBAISE MBAISE LAND IN THE FIGHT FOR BIAFRA!
BY

CASMIR CHIGOZIRI NGUZORO

Before 1902, when the Aro expedition was carried out by the British colonial powers to Subdue the Aro slave trading oligarchy, Mbaise had not come under British rule, but by 1906, at the Conclusion of the operation, the present day Mbaise consisting of the three local Government Areas (Aboh, Ahiazu and Ezinihitte) was effectively brought together under British control in a semblance of local authority. The name Mbaise came into being in 1941, it was first used as an administrative nomenclature to identify a group of people who shared the same cultural, social and even religious beliefs. Simply put; mbaise people were and still are homogenous. The name Mbaise was suggested and endorsed by the first generation of Mbaise politicians and leaders at after Enyiogugu. Mbaise is known for their five clans namely, Oke-Uvuru, Agbaja, Ekwereazu, Ahiara and Ezinihitte.
Because of the importance of Mbaise people in Igbo land, in view of their wisdom, courage and resistance, the General of the people’s Army, Odumegwu Ojukwu came to Mbaise and proclaimed the Ahiara declaration on June 1st 1969. The Ahiara declaration was the document that contained the principles and ideals of the Biafra revolution and struggle and Ojulkwu himself chose no other place than the hallowed Mbaise environ to deliver this all important and emotional message.
This book containing principles and ideals of the Biafra Revolution, or simply put; this Ahiara declaration has assumed the status of being the third most controversial book even written and documented; coming behind Adolf Hitler’s ‘Mein Kampf’ (1923), and Charles Darwin’s, “the origin of species” (1859)
The book, Ahiara declaration, was a document many considered untimely but very purposeful for the freedom, upliftment and total emancipation of the black race, and very relevant to the Biafran cause and her destiny.
Since the past 100 years, only Ahiara declaration has been able to unveil the atrocities of Great Britain as well as Proffering solution to the Negro race especially black Africa, on how to check mate British dominance and her imperialism.
The spirit of Biafra, as enunciated in the Ahiara Declaration, must continue to remain a living hope and road map for the eventual emancipation of black man and Afro centric world view.
But our youth must learn not to take laws into their hands, violence does not pay. Nothing brings good health, progress and development like peace and unity. They should understand that treasonable felony is a serious crime, and that whoever that has any issue, should easily go to court to seek redress.
The Igbo’s are Israelites, and the land of Biafra is been blessed with milk and honey (crude oil and other mineral resources). Destiny can be delayed but can never be denied. The Egyptians and Pharaoh held the Israelite for years, but when it was time, at the appointed time, God came and rebirated them peacefully, the Israelites never took power into their own hands.
If it is the will of God that the land & State of Biafra will stand, nobody can stop it, it will come easily and peaceful on its own.
Lets be peaceful, and enjoy the unity and peace of Nigeria for as little that as we have to stay together. Violence does not pay, but peace does.
