Press Release

IGBO QUIT NOTICE ORDER: IYC CHALLENGES THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ON LEADERSHIP.

The National Executives of the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide (IYC) vehemently condemns the recent statement made by the spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) Ango Abdullahi in support of a mandatory and forceful relocation order earlier made by the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum and similar youth groups in the North for all Igbos residing and doing business in the North to vacate their territory within 90 days. This notice to quit order made by the youth’s body and corroborated by the Elders goes to show that they are either ignorant or not conversant with the constitutional provision which guarantees the right to own properties and live anywhere within the Federal Republic of Nigeria. You cannot forcefully ask a person to leave your territory because he chooses the part of secession or self-determination. Secession has been an age long word known by many modern democracies and does not on its own translate to a death sentence.

We expressly state our disdain for such statement coming from the Elders as such words are not only symptoms but actually the cause of the unwarranted civil war and Nigeria cannot afford same now.
We particularly challenge the Buhari led Federal Government on strong and purposeful leadership aimed at arresting the situation at its preliminary stage and not the kind of way they have handled this critical national issue.

We at Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) urges the Federal Government to look at the issue of restructuring this country so component states can manage and control the ownership of her resources which is in tandem with the concept of true federalism. This will be a step in the right direction on the part of the Federal Government especially now that Nigeria is in urgent need of a way forward.

Signed for the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide:

Barr. Henry Iyalla
Spokesman, IYC.

The Arewa youths are making it possible for Biafra to leave and become a republic. The opportunity is opened now.people should not kick against it.The IBO see north as an obstacle to realise their dream, now see the ample chance. For get your investment, u will get them back in new Biafra but don't include benur, kogi ,or any south south states.

my biggest problem with the northerners, apart from being blood thirsty, is their misguided belief that Nigeria can remain one only if the south continue to do their bidding. they think they are the most populous, hence they reserve the right.only the IBOs in kano are three million plus, excluding other states.and also excluding those killed during the war numbering about 800000,and their supposed generation now,we would have a different figures of the IBO population. the ibos should not reason their investment in the north.I know their reinvigorating spirit.they can bounce back.besides am islamophobic. with the sharia law and others, even Qatar is being sanctioned by Saudi,Bahrain and uae for sponsoring terrorism. abeg na Britain cause this nonsense.
FYI: am from Edo state, but at least let's try and see how Biafra will be.the African Japanese, I believe them so much. am Edo pro biafra
