President Buhari's Aide Says APC Will Rule For 200 Years by Realcash224(m): 11:02am On Jun 14, 2017
The special assistant to President Muhamadu Buhari on prosecution, Okoi Obono-Obla, says the All Progressives Congress (APC) will exist for 200 years “because it has done well”, The Cable reports.
Obono-Obla made the remark after presenting his book entitled ‘APC: The Making of a Change Agent’ to John Oyegun, national chairman of the party.
“I said in the next 200 years, APC will be alive. Yes, why not? Because we have done very well and we are going to remain in power as long as long as we continue to do well, we believe Nigerian people will always vote for us,” he said.
According to Vanguard, the book appears to be a broader account of the contributions of several individuals to the successes of the party as opposed to the president’s authorized biography written by Prof. John Paden.
The book “Muhammadu Buhari: The Challenge of Leadership in Nigeria” diminished the roles of some of the leaders and noticeable left out the name of Chief Odigie-Oyegun in all its 24-chapters.
In reaction to the invasion of the office of The Sun publishing limited by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Obono-Obla said the anti-graft agency “went there to do its job of fighting financial crimes”. Obono-Obla’s projection on the stay of the ruling party is a reminder of the statement former military head of state Ibrahim Babangida (IBB) made that the Peoples Democratic Party can rule for 60 years “provided it can put its house in order”.
Babaginda made this known on Saturday, March 11, when he received leaders of the party at his Hilltop mansion in Minna, Niger state capital.
