THE Federal Government has blamed the downturn of the economy as reason why it failed to create the three million jobs it promised.

Speaking on behalf of the government is the minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, in an interview with Sun Newspaper.

Ngige also blamed corruption as being responsible, stating that with corruption it was impossible to create jobs.

“…if you have corruption, you cannot have resources to create jobs. Job creation to be specific is a multi-faceted; multi-sectoral affair involving all strata of the economic chain of the country,” he said.

Ngige said the government choosed to diversify the economy because “with the drop in revenue, we have to fight for our lives, we fought for the economic life of the Nigerian people, what do we do, we now said diversify into agriculture and mining. Jobs were created from mining, jobs were created from agriculture because those farmers you see have created jobs for themselves, they created jobs for some of their children who cannot get jobs, they have created jobs for their daughters and wives and so they became the blue collar job people.”

He also stressed that if not for the government’s intervention, the sack of workers in the private sector would have been much more than what it is now.

I'm really scared of what this country holds for my unborn kids and grandkids forty years from today. If it's this bad in 2017 then how is 2050 going to be like? undecided

Restructuring seems to be the only logical solution so every region will be competing. It's either Restructuring or we divide this country.

You couldn't because you have a born to rule illiterate as president. A stack illiterate President who doesn't know anything about economy. And also filled himself with clueless dullard Ministers.

Before assuming power, the current administration identified corruption as something to be attended to with alacrity. With this in the background, promises on jobs, economic growth and stuff were made.

Saraki was cleared of charges. Corrupt judges have all been returned to their respective courts. Fuel price that Nigerians fought for, that surprisingly, the APC lent voice to, has been doubled. I lost a fortune to their school boy economic policies. Guinness Nigeria recorded their second loss (the first being, not surprisingly, in 1984. Don't ask me who was the president then). Now, at every turn, good old corruption is being blamed for these colossal failures. And more.

Things that we used to take for granted are now taking us for granted. Even South African footballers are now playing us like Brazilians in our own backyard.

We don't need a government that will create 3 million jobs. No one asked for that. We don't even want a government that will set out to create one job. That's a classic case of misplaced priority. Putting the doggone cart before the horse.

We need, in my humble opinion, a government that understands and delivers the basics of life in the best way possible.

We need to identify the individuals that will form this government now. The current crop are mostly selfish because they lack good training and ignorant because they lack wisdom.

Karma is a bitch.By the kind of virulent propaganda APC used to win 2015,one will though Nigeria will be Eldorado now,but alas,Nigeria receive her worst political experience ever seen in histroy. To fulfill their campaign promises is now rocket science. No wonder Jonathan said Nigeria will surely missed him.Bunch of idiot.

shocked

So he is giving excuses for failing to fulfil his promise.

In a civilised country, this is enough to kill his political career.

Anambra people will be fools to vote him as governor in November

Failures.

3m is not even up to 2% of Nigeria's population, yet they can't provide that small number of jobs.

Not to mention the multiple job losses since this govt took over.
