According to Chinese American professor, Amy Chua, ethnic groups that control national economies are bound to be hated. In a 2002 book she called World On Fire, she listed her fellow Chinese, Jews, Igbos and Lebanese as some market dominant groups in various parts of the world.In the book, which is available on Amazon, she disclosed that:

The Chinese Filipino community is 1% of the population but controls 60% of the economy, with the result being resentment by the majority against the Chinese minority creating an ethnic conflict. Is she right? Is this why Igbos are hated by many (not all) in Nigeria? Many non-Igbo Nigerians, including President Muhammadu Buhari, have acknowledged the entrepreneurial acumen of the Igbos. So we agree with Chua’s listing of Igbos with Chinese, Lebanese and Jews as market dominant groups. (It’s the truth.)

If Igbos never recovered from the civil war (£20 Pounds policy), would they be hated as they are today?

I do not hate igbos and don't know many people who do from my circle, but l think there is an inherent trait in a local average Igbo man to see other tribes as inferior, in the process it sparks a negative feedback and reaction from others.

Maybe the igbos who do this do it unknowingly though, but from my observation this trait seem to be more common with the average Igbo man(just some of them though) than any other tribe.
All tribes in Nigeria have their weaknesses too.

Also l agree that the Igbo's are the most successful in investment and trading, and have great intellectual prowess, but Yoruba's also have many great achievements intellectually and lack of education from the onset is the problem for a large population in the north, else they would have competed fairly too.(considering the three majorities only).

Those set of lgbo people should stop looking down on others, even if you are a Biafran, we all have thesame red blood.

Another problem of Igbo man in Nigeria apart from envy from other tribes for their economics prowess is that we are not diplomatic in nature, we say things as we see them without minding whose horse is gored. Those erosions you see are as a result of marginalization of the Igbo, but truth be told, a few Igbo technocrats can easily fix all that. During the civil war, Igbo Biafra refined its own petrol, built its own tanks and amoured cars, constructed its own airport, but if you say we are part of Nigeria, then you must come fix those ecological disasters left by marginalization.
