Nigeria Acquires 12 SU-30 Jet Fighters From Russia. by Nobody: 12:50pm On Jun 27, 2017
Nigeria has apparently ordered Su-30 fighter jets from Russia and has already received two examples.

This is according to Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) Deputy Director Anatoliy Punchuk, who was quoted by Russia’s Sputnik news agency on 26 June as saying Russia will deliver ten Su-30s in 2018.

Nigeria apparently received two Su-30s under a contract for the delivery of 12 of the Russian fighters this year.
The order comes as somewhat of a surprise as Nigeria has not been known to be interested in the Su-30, and has been pursuing the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) JF-17 Thunder single-engine fighter jet. Nigeria previously selected the type but by the end of 2016 had not yet signed a contract. Indications were it would order three of the jets.
The Nigerian Air Force may intend to operate both the JF-17 and Su-30, with the JF-17 as its new lightweight fighter and the Su-30 as a heavy multirole platform.

Elsewhere in Africa, Algeria is in the process of receiving 14 Su-30MKAs from Russia and Angola is getting 12 former Indian Air Force Su-30MKs. One was seen in February this year flying after overhaul at the 558th Aircraft Repair Plant in Belarus.

They should buy 12, so that we can have 2 per region in case of restructuring of the nation or outright dissolution (tall order).

Two SU-30 jets fighters have already been delivered but as always the Nigerian defends ministry do not see the need to inform the Nigerian public on acquisitions and the amount spent for accountability sake. That notwithstanding, in the space of 12 months the Nigerian Air Force has grown from nearing extinction to one of the most advanced air forces in Africa with its compliments if attack drones, high tech airborne warning and surveillance aircraft, JF-17 and now 4.5 Generation SU-30 multi role fighter jets.

It will always be good if we can acquire helicpoter gunship eg Apache Helicopters and 3-5 F-series from US.

We need a complete compliment of arsenal to be the rightful super power in Africa. We are too way behind Egypt and the Southies in Africa.

12 MI-35 helicopter gunships were deluvered 2 months ago. Nigeria operate a compliment of nearly 40 attack helicopters.

In the interim, let us share the delivered 2 by placing 1 in the North and the other in the South. When the remaining 10 are delivered , they can be placed in the ratio of 2 per zone.

We all need to start watching out for our regions now as the cry for long overdue restructuring (not secession) of the nation is reaching a crescendo.

F-36....It is apparent you have zero knowledge of defense matters, you just decide to comment for the sake of it.

FOr our level, the Sukhoi FIghter Jets are not bad o.

Do we want to invade France or Japan.

I do not believe we need super high tech machines required by US or CHina or Russia because of their pseudo and proxy wars. Who are we fighting the=at we need such killing machines for and it is just a waste of money. The maintenance also cost a fortune.

We don't need that level for now abeg.

We really do owe a lot to Boko Haram, we should thank them for two reasons.

1. France and Cameroon were going to invade and annex Eastern Nigeria months before Boko Haram attacks started. The plan was shelved because of this. It would have been a major embarassment because Nigeria's Intelligence Agencies were aloof.

2. The Boko Haram insurgency forced the Nigerian government to reorganize and re-arm on a scale not seen since the eighties.

Today the Nigerian military has found its mono back.

Remember when in 2000 Obasanjo dismantled the Air Force and cut funding because we were not fighting anybody...a decade later we are forced to 're arm in a massive scale. Nigeria has to rearm to deter the likes of Franco Cameoonian alliance against Nigeria. Nigeria isnthe only stumbling block between France and total economic domination of the region.

On what basis would they have invaded Nigeria? That cannot be true.

You are right.

But if France really wants to attack Naija, can we do anything. Remember that by attacking France you are indirectly attacking NATO.

Edward Snowdon and Wikipedia report. Google it. Cameroon was secretly stockpiling weapons from France for use. France was secretly building an airbase near Calabar that will make all of Eastern Nigeria within a ten minute range.

Who is attacking France? France has a vested interest in cutting Nigeria to size. During the civil war they supported Biafra.

That was because of Bakassi. They felt Nigeria will not respect the judgement of Hague.

Yeah they were the active supporter of Biafrau.d with the latent supporters being Vatican, Israel, Tanzania, Gabon and Cote'd Ivoire.

It will be hard for them to do that because their colonies that are our neigbours cannot even contain the crisis they will eventually create.
