Since inception of Ohaneze Ndi igbo in 1976, It has been the apex Igbo organization representing all Igbo communities within and outside Nigeria. Championing the cause of Igbos and sons. Although the group is not a political party, part of its objectives of creation is to foster unity among its members in other to better allow them to be representative within the political scenario of Nigeria.

With the emergence of IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu and especially with the utterances coming from Nnamdi Kanu. It appears there is a collision on who actually champions the cause of the masses. With Kanu sparing no words or insults on the Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, it appears the extreme of the divergence has been reached.

However recent calls for Biafra especially as IPOB has proclaimed that there will be no vote in coming anambra election, it appears the die is cast for a battle of supremacy on the D day 18th November 2017. Ohaneze Ndi igbo has held so many meetings with stakeholders of Anambra denouncing Nnamdi Kanu's proclamation and trying the very possible best to assert its position as the mouth piece of Igbos.

The latest of such is the meeting held on the 1st of July with Governors and senators of the southeast and leaders of thought. The communique stated that they are committed to a united peaceful Nigeria. Surprisingly they avoided all mention of IPOB or Biafra agitation but focused on restructuring of Nigeria, and adoption of the 2014 National confab report.

One cannot help but to notice the crude and mean manner of Nnamdi Kanu's approach. On the minds of many Igbo's they are already aligned to one of the contending parties. Here are the questions on minds of igbo.

Will Nnamdi kanu's IPOB succeed??

What is going to be Nnamdi Kanu's status if Biafra is restored? They hate the idea of him being an overlord or ruler.

What has Ohaneze ndi Igbo achieved for Igbos since inception??

How many Governors, senators or representatives has Ohaneze ndi Igbo ever called to order for not championing the Igbo cause??

How many communique have they issued due to bad governance dilapidating structures in the east and how many have they ever pushed through??

Has Ohaneze been there while Enugu Onitsha expressway is and continue to be death trap??

Has Ohaneze been there while Igbo sons will have to import their goods through lagos as against closer ports in Portharcourt, warri etc.

Is Ohaneze finding its voice because IPOB has won the masses??

If Ohaneze could not make any difference in all these years since 1976, how then can they achieve or get the restructuring??



It appears Ohaneze disowning and outshining Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB is really not what it seems to average Igbo man.

The Ozo Igbo Ndu and Ohamadike nke Izizi of the Igbo race, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been attacking the Ohaneze from the onset for their failure to fight for the survival of the Igbos. Ohaneze thought that they can bend him for their political interest but failed as Kanu refused to change his agenda for the freedom of his people.
Ask you self this question, "how many Ohaneze members participate in voting and how of Kanu followers participate?" The IPOB are not people you can buy to go and queue up for you o, these IPOB guys are happily spending their hard earned money to achieve their Biafra state. Asking them not go and vote by their supreme commander is least sacrifice for them.

Ohaneze ndigbo is pro-Nigerian in its outlook and pro Igbo elite. These elites served as gatekeepers to Igbo masses and pretended to listen to their complains and concerns for years. A lot of the elites in ohaneze ndigbo have invested so much in outside Igbo land. Their goal is to manage the anger and frustration of the Igbo masses for the Nigerian government while preserving their investments.
