Mikey2880: Goodevening Please I need you guys to help a friend out here. She got her medical call on Monday and went for her medicals on Wednesday but got a call back yesterday and they ran some tests today and found out she is HIV positive and she’s literally losing it. Her application has been in process for quite sometime now and she thinks she’s going to be refused on this grounds. Please does anyone know what happens to a HIV positive patient’s application? i understand how she feels but at this point ill encourage her to just be positive because there is little or nothing she can do at the moment but just to wait in prayers since her TRV has already been processing for weeks. this is my advice. |

It is advisable to write a brief friendly introductory letter to a potential supervisor who you have confirmed that has similar research interests that you do. Explain that you have met the basic requirement. Talk very briefly on your research stating the need for this research and how you think he fits. Finally enquire if he is accepting graduate students and if so if he can get in touch with you. He will most likely reply asking for research proposal, and perhaps a CV. Your research proposal should not be above 5 pages if possible. Let your passion for your chosen research field show genuinely.
Ok. Thanks. But am yet to cross the hurdle of statement of intent not to now mention research proposal! A beg I need help and assistance... |

Alarm: please edit and remove your statement of purpose here to prevent plagiarism. To obtain a supervisor, first send a friendly email introducing yourself as a student from Nigeria and talk about very briefly your interest and why the professor would be a good fit. Ask for permission to email your research proposal or statement of intent, resume and transcript. Ok thanks but I still need help with my statement of intent not to mention research proposal. I feel so empty right now like I don't even know how or where to start. As u say it's not safe to send it here? |

The bolded is incorrect. There is a very strong link between math and scientific computing. Scientific computing is literally at the intersection using computers to mathematically formulate and efficiently solve numerical problems across scientific disciplines.
Scientific computing = efficiently using computers to solve difficult math problems. Cest fini.
@thesoj Please I will like you to review my SOP. Can I pm you? Thanks |

Well I will say the VO is not an encyclopedia, we shouldn't assume that they know things, we should try to explain things to them. Trying to relate scientific computing to industrial mathematics, try to break down industrial mathematics into fields : pure mathematics and applied mathematics, then pick any of these fields and explain to the VO that most of the real life problems are modelled into mathematical equations which in most case can't be solved analytically (by manual simplification), hence the need for numerical solutions which is often carried out by softwares designated for the purpose ( you can then state some softwares, high level and low level programming languages: FORTRAN, Q-basic, python, R, SAS, MATLAB, C+, C-sharp... e.t.c). With this a VO who doesn't know before will see the relationship... Mathematics and computer science can't be separated... Ire o Thank you Bro. for your contribution. I appreciate it. I will pm you. Regards. 1 Like |

Funnicator: Hello, can i get scholarship with my neco result to an Canadian school.
My account is zero but i hope to work and earn there. Pharmacy school has frustrated me here.
beverlyd jnyuwa please who can help If you are going for an undergraduate course, you might be able to get one with your Neco but you have to search for specific schools offering scholarships in your field. Alternatively, you seek for scholarship from other external sources. MasterCard foundation usually offer some undergraduate scholarships. Another good source is scholars4dev.com. You will see other regions there even if you are not able to find anny for canada. All the best 1 Like |

Okay, thank you. jnyuwa02:
So sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Yes, the CIC medical test generally includes a HIV test. Under existing protocol for permanent residency and long term non immigrants as students, CIC has the discretionary authority to determine through a medical test result, whether a person's health may constitute excessive demand on Canadian healthcare. So the good news is your HIV status is not a categorical disbarment from been given a visa. The bad news is you have to meet extra demands more than others. In addition to proving you can afford your studies and will come back to Nigeria, you have to also prove you have a credible plan and financial resources to foot the cost of your medical expenses and prescription drugs in Canada and that your health will not posse excessive demand on the Canadian health and social safety network. You will need to present to the VO a credible health plan in Canada on how you intend to take care of yourself financially. I suggest you get into immediate contact with health providers in Canada and buy insurance specific to your situation and submit with your application by emailing to Accra. Again, So sorry for your diagnosis. We thank God that HIV is no longer the epidemic it use to be and most HIV patients live normal lives with good medication. 1 Like |

Greetings.... Please I have some clarifications and assistance. I'm applying for a school in Canada and is certain about been admitted Buh my fears now is being approved for study visa. I contacted the school and the told me the yearly tuition and fees = $5200 that is #1,5m or less... And that accommodation and living expenses will amount $11,000. That is total of less than #4.5m. They equally told me that their international office will help me secure a students job. Now, my father can provide as my primary sponsor, a bank statement of up to #3m and I have an uncle as a second sponsor that is able to provide an account statement of over #5m. Please can this get me approved or should I go for a 3rd sponsor. Please someone should help me with necessary information so as to know the next step to take.... |

Hope this helps |
