That is not true. ASUU strike has never been more than four months and they don't strike every year like that. Besides when ASUU is on strike medical schools don't go on strike. Except for people who have not started clinicals.

I don't understand your question. Is your friend getting a bachelor's or is about to go to medical school? I was about that age when I got into medical school. Medical school is four years (don't know about Nigeria) and residency is at most seven years (I used five).

So the question is: "Is he going in for pre-med or he already has a bachelor's and is now applying to medical school?

it is neva to late to do anything especially to study medicine. in d medical skul I attend, there is a 28 year old lady who is in 200 level. her first degree was in nursing and she practiced for some yrs b4 coming back 2 skul. The truth is dat it is going to be very difficult because when ur age mates are getting married and having well paid jobs, u would still be in skul. this can make u feel jealous. some of my age mates are married nd have children, some hv even built houses but I'm still in skul. D thing is dat anytime he feels depressed abt wat his age mates are doing, he shld remember d reason why he is studying medicine. he shld also try a private uni if he has d means or a public uni dat does nt strike often or has back log so dat he won't spend a longer period of time in skul.

It is never too late. I have classmates who gained admission btw ages of 27 - 29. Tell your friend not to be perturbed, as dere is no age barrier to studying medicine.

And is your friend seeking admission via UTME or he has a degree before?

I had NCE in BiologyChemistryEducation.then proceeded for Direct Entry to study -BiologyChemistry, worked as a lecturer in a college of Education for three years before proceeding to study Medicine at the age of 31.

No its not too late to get knowledge at any time. I am a vet doc, having spent 6 years in UI, a classmate of mine went back to MBBS After we graduated and he's a medical doc today. If it gets you fulfilled why not?

There's nothing to late to achieve like life. I'm a 300lvl student of Pharmacy@UNIZIK. A friend of mine in same level is a medical doctor. He studied medicine, graduated, did his internship and NYSC and now he's with me in Pharmacy. I intended to still do medicine when I'm done with Pharmacy.... Choice is all yours.
Once there's a will, there's a way.

Well nothing is too late to achieve in a man's life. If he's truly driven by the zeal to save and impact lives, he's gonna need to be focus and work even harder to realize that.

I know a man who started medicine at the age of 38 after his first degree, worked for some years, he was matured & determined, today he's top in his profession. Passion should be your focus.

As a physician my frank advice to you i this, if you will study medicine starting at 25, please don't do in any Federal University here in Nigeria, If you can afford it then look for a Private Uni offering Medicine, I entered Med school at 19 but I graduated at 30. Strikes, having to repeat the year etc contributed to my prolonged stay in school . ASUU strike, Resident Doctors, Nurses strike etc. Its better if you're younger, though 25 is not really bad that is if you don't plan on going on to specialise cos if you are still planning on that then its a long way home bro.

After my first degree, I worked for a few years, travelled out for a postgraduate degree and still went back to medical school.

Mind you, I was close to 25 when I got my first degree.

they do ooo, your consultant s are still lecturers, they will simply teach in the ward and clinic but they won't conduct exams for you in class which also carries a percentage to your final grade

I understand your plight but it is your life so why allow other people thinking affect you. My brother finished Medical school at age 26 and he was the oldest in the class while youngest was 22. You can do it.

i really don't get youu, but my friend does not have a degree already . He couldn't start university earlier because his parents died, he has the resources now and wants to study medicine in university this year.

i don't understand what you mean by specialize sir ?, so after you spent 7 or more yrs in the university , you will have to go back to study again?

To me, that is even when his brain could be mature to handle everything that comes with the stress in medical school.
