Coordinator of Ijaw Monitoring Group, IMG, Comrade Joseph Evah has described the media campaign by some presenters and public opinion analysts in the media against the wife of the Acting President, Dame Patience Jonathan as an attempt to paint the Ijaw people as people without culture, custom, tradition and conscience.

Some analysts had alleged that before the Vice President was made Acting President by the Senate, his wife, Patience, had already redesigned the office of the First Lady, Hajia Turai Yar’Adua, to her own taste to take over the office as Acting First Lady.

In a statement signed by Evah on behalf of IMG, the group condemned the media network “put in place in Nigeria and abroad by enemies of Nigeria to raise false alarm and incite the public against genuine efforts to find solution to the man-made constitution at crisis.

“No Ijaw person will make frantic effort to dispossess a fellow human being of her position with the aim that the sick will not return alive. It is not part of Ijaw way of life, it is not in our character,” the IMG boss said

He said people sponsoring such rumours were wicked. “We are surprised to watch strange people on television and discussions on radio to pollute the minds of Nigerians. We know their target is the Acting President. The wife of the Acting President has not redesigned Hajia Turai’s office to her own taste since last year to occupy it.

“We are aware of a propaganda team set-up in Nigeria and abroad by the cabal to publish falsehood against the Acting President and his wife.

“We wish to alert the public that fake bank statement of accounts and non-existing bank transactions as well as false business dealings linking the Vice President’s wife are being put together to blackmail the Acting President and his wife.

“We wish to raise the alarm now so that when such evil plots surface, the public will know the game plan of the cabal and ignore such publications and we also advise media owners not to allow their organisation to be used as platform for such evil agenda.”
