A man is on the run after brutalizing his daughter with a cutlass just because she failed to feed his ram.

Wale Ogunleye had before leaving his house on August 10 told his daughter, Eniola to wash some potato peels and feed them to his ram.

Eniola, 14, however, forgot to carry out his father’s instruction because she went out with her mother.

On his return from work, Ogunleye, popularly called Baba Eniola on seeing that the girl had not carried out her instructions became furious.

He had pretended to have forgiven Eniola when she explained the reasons why she did not wash the potato peels.

But around midnight of the same day, he woke up Eniola and started beating her.

Bounce News gathered that Ogunleye used the most unlikely object – a machete to torture the teenager.

But after struggling with her father for several minutes, she managed to escape through the window but not without bruises all over her body.

It was gathered that after Eniola’s escape, her father pounced on her mother and also inflicted injuries on the woman.

She was, however rescued by neighbors who had to force the doors open after Eniola told them what happened.

Eniola and her mother were later taken to the hospital.

Ogunlele our correspondent gathered, has since fled their residence in the Agbede Transformer area in Ikorodu, Lagos to escape arrest.

Narrating her experience, Eniola told Bounce News that she could not carry out her father’s instruction because it rained few minutes after he left the house.

She added that she also forgot to feed the ram because she came late after accompanying her mother to collect some money from someone indebted to her.

Eniola explained that the sum collected by her mum was what they used to buy foodstuff to feed themselves after the father failed to provide for the family.

She noted that her father was in the habit of inflicting heavy punishment on her and her mother each time he felt provoked.

Eniola, a JSS3 student, narrated to our correspondent how her father broke into her mother’s shop some time ago, destroyed some goods while inflicting a deep cut on her hands before she was rushed to the hospital.

A concerned resident of the community, Abiodun told Bounce News that residents were scared that night when they heard a loud noise from the Ogunleye’s compound.


He said they had thought that the family was being attacked by the deadly armed group - Badoo.

He added that residents, however, summoned courage and rushed to the scene.

"We heard the family screaming and wailing for help at about 12 mid-night. Neighbours rushed down to see what was happening and it turned out to be that the father was the one flogging both his wife and daughter with a cutlass."

Bounce News gathered that an NGO, Community Women’s Right Foundation, has already taken the case up.

When contacted the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Famous Olarinde-Cole said he has not been briefed on the matter.

Cases of domestic violence have been on the rise in recent years with state authorities set to implement laws ranging from jail terms to heavy fines.
