PRONS

(1) Nice simple setup

(2)Getting lots of information on a single platform.Nairaland also enables you to hear about real-life events and gatherings you might otherwise miss if you weren't on the social network.

(3)You can actually get some good friends(unknown to you before) because you know their belief, intellect, likes, and interests by their post, comments, demeanor to other peeps and not pics.

(4)You get to learn something new every day, especially in the health, family, religion, education, food, agriculture, programming, and career section.

(5)The Democratic way of sharing opinions on current events especially the politics section.

(6)Unlearning many things

(7)To dispel mistrusts, misunderstandings and stereotypical generalizations

(coolA good hub of news: sports update,friends-family update, Job/vacancies, promoting business + promoting personal thoughts-opinion, personal brand development, business etc.

(9)One of the best way to pass avoidable boring times

(10)You don't get to send a friend request for someone because he/she is beautiful

CONS

(1)Some people use it like Facebook to spread their hatred and ignorance.

(2)Sometimes popularity triumphs over the best and educative posts in terms of making front page

(3)A debate among two sociopaths is similar to a debate among two idiots, the only difference they both will point you to a specific research/study/evidence/fact.

(4)User interface is a little annoying.

(5)There are occasions when there is political bashing of one group over another.

(6)Fake people and ID can stalk you and get your personal details by using Nairaland

(7)People post and comment nonsense especially on romance section.

(coolPeople insult others and their parents instead of their post and comments which is lame and shows how immature, dumb and disrespectful they are.

(9)The popularity rule here. A post concerning general opinion doesn’t seem complete unless a popular figure has his or her comments at the top with thousands of likes. This basically means that Nairaland is useless in portraying general opinion on controversial issues, and usually portrays the opinion of the popular figures.smh

(10)Cyberbullying is a common practice on Nairaland much like Facebook

(11)Fake profile is one of the biggest disadvantages of using Nairaland. Now it is easy to use fake profile from the stolen pictures. People often use fake profile to insult or harass someone they don’t like.

(12)Sometimes a good post can go indefinitely without being attended, while other meaningless posts can have truckloads of comments and likes, to the point of being overwhelming especially post relating to love, sex, romance and most notably bashing of both genders especially Ladies.

(13)All advice might not work for you especially on the Romance section.

(14)In spite of the gender equality most people talk about, you get accepted and followers(more chances) when you are with a female profile.

(15)You literally get curious for views, comments, and likes and once you post, you get the tendency for peeping infrequently to get yourself updated.

(16)it is providing a different dimension to 'how to be social' .the term social is more or less related to the society and the problems we are facing there and also the true happiness and interactive session we share but what it is happening nowadays is that we are spending much of our time on these sites in seeking popularity, insulting people, commenting and sharing useless uneffective contents and waiting for likes and comment . In fact, the physical interaction and talks that we do which are more effective and represent our true nature and identity is somehow lost.

(17 Nairaland will create Ego

Finally, There are innumerable positives about social networking, agreed. Nairaland is the neoteric newspaper- brimming with information and the ability to share information, discuss and debate on varied topics makes it a boon, worth than attaining the holy grail. The bottom line is that at one point of time, in order to expand the social circle, we are adumbratively losing that individuality, that USP of one's self, that idiosyncrasy to something that is superficial and non-existent. There are many vital F-words that are necessary for survival and Nairaland isn't one.

feel free to add your own pron and cons.
thanks

Romance Section should be highly censored. The presence of redundant posts depicting nudity all in the name of 'Rating' should be completely frowned upon and banned. Even a 15 year old comes to this particular section to appease inner-eye desires and lustful thoughts and the grown-ups aren't matured enough to play it clean rather they say sweet nothings (which end up being pick up lines for minors) to one another. Chastity is taken for naivety in this section and prurience is idolized and immensely backed up. I am not saying sexuality should be downplayed in its domain but for the sake of its publicity, it should be fairly and sensibly expressed.
