zoedew: Ken saro wiwa and the ogoni 9 would have love to read your submission up here. Alas they were murdered using thesame constitution in use today. Abacha declared and convicted them of treasonable felony.... Same thing Buhari is declaring Kanu today. If memory serves me right, Ken Saro Wiwa did not engage in hate speech or did he? And No..... In a sane democratic society, Ndigbo politicians do not need to be involved for a referendum vote to hold. They are less than 0.1% of the south east population. Power belongs to the people and not the leader. That is how it should be so that selfish leaders who have been bought and paid for will not keep holding their own people down. 1 Like |

Iamzik: Though not provided for in cfrn99 the right to self determination cannot be denied any people group in Nigeria who desire same since Nigeria is a signatory to the UN Charter that provides for it. However it must be pursued in a manner civil to the extent it would attract int. sympathy where Nigeria says no. Ndigbo politicians must be involved for the push to be credible. Nnamdi Kanu is the face of Biafra and unfortunately he is a tough sale! I wonder if you have viewed his vitriolic videos on YouTube which reminds one of Adolf Hitler and the disaster he brought on our world! Germans didn't spend their lifetime licking the wound of defeat but simply went to work at building a nation strong post WWII. Today Germany stands shoulder to shoulder with the top nations of the world. Ndigbo has a thing or two to learn from the Germans and the Third Reich! |

Dedetwo: And you who have education beyond "Nigerian grade" is it the UN that instructed Iraq to organize a referendum or was it organized because it is in their constitutional right to do so? You all keep shouting UN resolution for self determination but you failed to realize that the UN cannot compel any nation to enforce or respect that right. Myanmar is a classic example. If your UN was that powerful why has it not enforced the right of rohingya Muslims to freedom of worship without persecution from government? The constitution of each county takes precedence any day any time. If Nigeria is not afraid why not include the referendum clause in the constitution like other countries?? |

Iamzik: 1. What happened to Ken Saro Wiwa CANNOT happen in a democratic Nigeria as it would go all the way to the Supreme Court so his guilt can be proved to the hilt. 2. Power belongs to the people is properly understood within the context of the people VOTING to elect the politicians who become their voice for the elected term of office which can be paused by exercising their right to recall the elected politicians. That is the evidence power belongs to the people. Ndigbo must arise and make Biafra a campaign issue if indeed it is the general desire and we'll see it achieved politicians being what they are. Lately Atiku, a Northern politician has gone for broke by making restructuring a campaign issue for the next Presidential elections. #standupandbecountedforwhatyoubelieve |

Iamzik: Are you okay? Self-determination cannot be confused with freedom of warship. In many stances where the process of self-determination has spiraled into armed conflict, UN had intervened hence UN Peace Keeping Force. And in most cases resulted in the realization of an independent country. 1 Like |

zoedew: I hope you know that the Kurds actually had armed groups fighting for them. The PKK are real armed groups who engaged in a lot of killings and terrorist activities. IPOB has not engaged in armed struggle against Nigeria and yet it is tagged a terrorist group. You can't force a people into a marriage they are not interested in. Kanu or no Kanu, IPOB or No IPOB, Biafra is in the heart of every Igbo man and we will not stop until we get there. It's just a matter of time |

Dedetwo: You are the one who is not ok Go read about Catalonia referendum, and the recent Kurdish referendum. I asked you a simple question and you are playing the UN card. Both Iraq and Catalonia has referendum clause in their constitution and that is why they could organize one without a single military operation (it's much like organizing an election) not because they bank of UN support. Why is Nigeria so scared at the mention of the word referendum? Let the people decide how they want to live! You obviously think that every nation were people want self determination must have internal conflict that must degenerate to the extent of inviting UN peace keeping troupe. And for your info, right of self determination is not greater than right of religious freedom. All rights are rights so I wonder why your glorified UN has not sent peacekeepers into Myanmar despite all the documented killing and ethnic cleansing going on Basic education is also a human right and UN doesn't force any country to sponsor basic education. They only encourage member countries to include such rights in their policy and constitutions. Countries who are largely peaceful have encoded all major UN Human Rights into their constitution including the right to self determination. Nigeria is still operating a stifling military decree disguised as constitution and you are here defending it with all your strength! |
