Subjugation of women in Islamic countries is nothing new. That's what the core northerners are asking for for here in Naija.

The fact that their Ministry of Foreign Affairs is handling this shows they just want to be seen as progressive by the outside world and not that they're really committed to ending discrimination against women.
Adult women still need permission from a male guardian to travel, marry, go to the hospital, rent an apartment, work and to even leave prison after serving a sentence. Now imagine she is not in good terms with that guardian. Imagine an irresponsible male guardian decides to demand money or sex from her before giving permission for very basic things. Or even decides to punish her by withholding his permission for going to the hospital when she's sick.
Unfortunately, Western countries will prefer to shout about North Korea when almost half of the population of another country live in everyday oppression.

Western hypocrisy and double standard.

But congrats nonetheless to the oppressed women of Saudi Arabia and other oppressed women all over the world.

I salute the courage of the Saudi king in this regard and encourage him to do more. It is a good decision.

Good development on this note, buh some of you criticizing the country's principles need to think it through. Atleast some of these laws tend to uphold their moral values and keep their women modest. If Saudi is ignorant for upholding laws that ensure their women don't pose nudes, what does that make the U.S that our own ladies copy. In the end every country be just be doing what is right by them and for them.

It's one thing to be born a black African woman.

It's a whole new level of slavery when born and Arab woman... they are forever under the control of a man.
A father
A husband and even
A son.

I congratulate the beautiful woman of Saudi Arabia for their dogged struggle for decades just to drive.
It's been a long time coming.

Finally they entered the 20th century!

Their primitive culture and Islamic overdo it not a problem to the world and sure doesn't pose an equal threat like Noko.

Their country their women.... They have used religion to enslave their people. If the people cannot open their eyes and mouth to demand freedom then they must be enjoying it.

If western countries ask them to abolish Islamic rule and embrace freedom people will start shouting upandan. Leave every country to practice the system that works for them biko
First of all Islamic law does not support oppression of women, neither does it make allow people to oppress others, humans will always be humans so when a Muslim or a group of Muslims does something bad Islam should not be blamed. The western countries don't care about anyone but themselves Saudi Arabia is beneficial to them at the moment so they support it.
