THE CGPA SYNDROME AND THE ILLUSION OF SUCCESS

To see and discover beyond the school domain is a thing of the mind, body and soul. to discover the road that lead to success would be to look beyond the school environment. many do not know that life does not end in the school environment. one of the most dicey things is when you mix up school with education. once you allow such chemistry to take place, you would have to spend the rest of your life being a member of the rat-race.
You don't need to go to school to become successful; but you need to be educated. Please never confuse schooling for education, many are in school but not educated, many didn't attend any school and are highly educated. Stop limiting yourself because you didn't go to school, its not knowledge that guarantees success, it is the application of knowledge that guarantees success! They don't teach application of knowledge in schools, they only give knowledge. be warned!
this is one of the reasons why most of the so-called first-class graduates and professors are impotent and unforthcoming when it comes to"pragmatism". they are very good at doing the same thing but expecting different result. they can recite genesis to revelation offhand. they can as well tell you all the theories propounded by philosophers in antiquity.yet one would wonder why these people were unable to apply any of these theories..!
if truly an educated person is that individual who graduated with a first-class degree, then we ought to have seen their impacts on society--at least in the area of science and technology, economics, politics et all. but the reverse is the case. why? the reason is because they are not pregnant so they can't deliver. i called them 'Conglomeration of theoretical gurus'.
on the same pace as this, i once said it that an educated person is not someone who graduated with a CGPA of 4.5 or 5.0. an educated person is that individual who is useful to himself, to his environment and the society at large. what is the essence of being educated when one does not have impact on society?
life is not about good or bad CGPA. life is about what you want to offer and how far you can go with it.
wait! if tomorrow all the professors and first-class graduates were wiped out from the surface of the Earth, what would happen? how many technologies would suffer discontinuity? how many inventions would suffer? how many researches would suffer? these are the questions we need to ask ourselves. even within our national space, we have professors of economics yet we are still battling with economic dilapidation and financial precipitation. is that not a miraculous thing to worry about? the same story in other areas but, which one is ineffable for me to mention here? just that it would be of great interest if our educational system be transformed from paper-work-syndrome to an intellectual-based- institute. an avenue where worthwhile and defendable degrees would be awarded to the worthy; those who would proffer lasting solutions to the problems bedeviling the Nigerian state. also, the beauty of education should not be a tale of first class degree. it should be about applicability, Versatility and functionality.the moment we realise the need to overhaul our educational system, then the story of half-baked first-class holders and professors would have gone to exile. A mad man does not know he is mad until he regains his freedom. it would get better the moment we realise that our educational system is in a state of maddening crescendo.

in short, we should stop celebrating mediocrity in this country, right?
