From a surgical point of view, umblical hernia are not normal after 2 years of age. Valsalva maneuver, Teeth lifting, carrying heavy loads, even simply passing hard stool are known risk factors for making hernias progress to un-reducible, to incarcerated, and then strangulated(surgical emergency).
Nigerian children are no different from other black kids all over the World.
