Thank you. [qquote author=thegreengooner post=64217970]

Primary Occupation - BUSINESS

You will also have the option to fill in your previous work history so you can still put in the same information as previously when you get to this section. [/quote]

Hmm. Even if na gold. Lol
I have an idea of the post but I can't remember everything. I'll try my best
1. Read the thread. Knowledge is the root source of confidence
2. Take charge of the interview. Find a way to take attention toward your strength. Take for example, if you have traveled to say Ghana, let it show that that travel was for a purpose egs
"yes, I traveled in 2017 to Ghana for my annual vacation to see the scene outside Nigeria"- in my ultimo opinion it shows you like vacationing
Or " yes, for a conference on.... ". This would be useful if you are going for a conference.

Now you may not have travel history. And your strength is in your job tie. Your answer could turn the interview toward that. For example
" No I haven't been able to travel. My job as the manager of ABC hotels has not allowed me. But I have groomed someone that can temp while I am away"
Shows a sort of structure in the office and responsibilities on your part.
NB: don't cram the above. These are mere examples. Find what works for your circumstance.

For me. After I was refused for no travel history and as a single gal, my circumstances changed. I answered like this
Q: Why is your husband not traveling with u?
A: Because we just came back from the UK and he cant take more time off work
Q: (body language loosened. Went thru my passport) oh you have traveled...
The interview could have ended without the fellow asking me if I had travelled. I could have also answered that my husband was busy only. But I made sure to use that opportunity to steer the interview to my strength.

Finally look smart and nice. Don't overdo. Mimic the body language of the interviewer. Smile if he smiles. Be merely pleasant if he isn't. Don't form Phonèy. Don't mumble. Accept any outcome. God has a plan for you either way
Thanks for this response, really educating and helpful

Yes, but what do I fill under "Occupation"? Thank you

Fill exactly what your current occupation is. If there are list of occupation to select from on the form, chose the one that best describe what you do.

Your own interview, the transcript. Let's see.... Trying to see if the refusal is really connected to your thinking that you would have been granted the visa if you went in as a family or if you explained properly to the VO how this was actually a family application/vacation.

Actually wondering too how you got a thing as basic as filling separate DS160 forms for all members of your family wrong despite having read the thread all the way from part 1 though. Regards

My transcript goes thus:

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning
VO: Where are you going in US
Me: Orlando, Florida
VO: Why are you going to Florida?
Me: I'm going on vacation with my family.
VO: (checked her system and asked) where is your
family?
Me: They are outside, they are not allowed in because
there forms were not properly filled.
VO: Where are you working?
Me: bla bla bla
VO: How long have you been working there?
Me: 11 years
VO: (brings out blue paper) sorry you........ I did not
hear the rest.

I think I should have explained that I made mistake not filling DS-160 for each of them that I will do that and they will come back for their own interview and we are still traveling together.

I noticed the moment I said they are outside, she seems to have lost interest or made up her mind.

my wife makes good income, her interview would have boost our case. My mistake was going in for the interview, the CGI lady has already asked us to go back and reschedule, but when I was reluctant her colleague said I can go in and do mine.

Seriously, I never came across it anywhere to fill DS-160 for everyone or I was not thorough enough. Well, lesson learnt and I'm sure someone else will learn from my mistakes.

1. Fertility treatment, without the sperm donor?
2. Fertility treatment, that can now be done in Nigeria?
3. Did she tell the VO, she was going for fertility treatment in the US?
4. If she was going for fertility treatment, why didn't she apply together with her husband and/or her husband apply and get a visa for this purpose.
5. These could be some of the reasoning of the CBP Officer.
6. Re-apply with your husband, and let the VO know that you both are going for fertility treatment in the US.

It's not a must the treatment must happen in U.S... My advice is for them to do it elsewhere and reapply after they conceive.
This will convince the V.O they're not desperate or planning to migrate to U.S.

A lot of people have actually went in when one or more of their relatives have been turned back because of one issue or the other and have gotten the visa. Likewise, countless of people have gone in with their families and got denied. Him going in without his family played no part in his denial.

AMERICAN EMBASSY NABS FAKE NEUROLOGIST WITH FAKE DOCUMENTS

Officials of the United States of America Consulate General office in Victoria Island, Lagos have nabbed a man,Chukwukere Chinonye, 26 who claimed to be a Neurologist with the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, with fake documents to obtain a visa.

A Police source said that following the incident, the embassy officials notified the Commissioner of Police, CP in charge of the Police Special Fraud Unit, PSFU, Ikoyi, Ibrahim Lamorde of the development who immediately deployed a team led by ASP Lawal Audu to the embassy to arrest the suspect.

Other suspects arrested for allegedly conniving with Chinonye to procure the fake documents at Oluwole market, Lagos Island were Gabriel Ogbonna, 34 and Osinubi Aderinmola, 34.

The police source said that trouble started for Chinonye when he went to the United States Consulate General office, Victoria Island to summit documents comprising Fidelity Bank statement of accounts with No 6015400941 and LASUTH reference letter dated 13 November, 2017 to obtain United States Non Immigrant Visa knowing fully well that the documents were fake.

Nemesis, however, caught up with him when the officials, after perusing through the documents discovered that it was fake and his claims that he was a Neurologist was also fake and they invited the Police to arrest him.

During investigation, Chinoye allegedly confessed to the crime and named the other two suspects who allegedly helped him to procure the fake documents for N400,000 at Oluwole Market on Lagos Island.

He led the police to arrest the suspects who also allegedly confessed to the forgery and uttering of the documents.

The three suspects were arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate Court on a four-count charge of felony to wit, forgery, uttering and impersonation.

Police Counsel, Wewe Adegbayi informed the court in charge No G/3/2018 that the accused persons connived to forge traveling documents and presented same to the USA Embassy to secure a non immigrant visa and were arrested.

Adegbayi said that the offences committed were punishable under sections 409, 363(1), 464(1) and 378(1) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the alleged crime and Magistrate, W.B Balogun admitted them to bail In the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

Balogun adjourned the case till 21 February, 2018 for mention and ordered that the defendants be kept at Ikoyi Prison, till they perfect theit bail conditions

D delay was caused by her hubby who refused to go apply for his own visa, she eventually decided to go alone and go start her own treatment
She told them travel date wld be in august, but then tickets were ridiculously expensive and hubby kept promising to go apply for his own visa
Yes, she's been trying to conceive for abt 10yrs and was genuinely going for IVF treatment. And yes, she had evidence of all d hospital correspondences wit her, and had rescheduled her 1st appointment for this week.
Yes, she said they checked her hand luggage and didn't find anything incriminating. 2 mths becos she just assumed treatment wld take that long for d 1st stage.

Why the delay in travel?
When did she tell say her travel date will be during her interview?
Was she still going for the fertility treatment?
If yes, was she having evidence on her to this effect when she arrived the US?
Why two months exactly and with what was she justifying this?
Did they check her stuff in the US before being denied entry and having visa cancelled?

all they are after is money, I discovered he made a lot of mistakes on my form when r i was re applying on my own.. Imagine occupation he put company instead of my profession, they ask any plan for the traveling he said No, when i got to appointment booking page it refers me to the email he used i called him and it takes him three good days to finally release the password.. And i was asking him then why did he hv to open another email when i hv my personal email

@greengoner OK.
IvF requires a minimum of 14 days and 30 days Max really.
The lady just assumed na Naija where any story na story.

Be that as it may, for what it's worth, poster IVF clinic dey literally on almost every street in Lagos and is not as much as 30k USD which is the minimum range in the US

I had a yes to my visa application on Thursday 11Jan. in Lagos & was told 3 working days to get my passport. Since the 3 w/days would be Tuesday(today) I assumed i would normally get the passport back to enable write IELTS on Friday 19th Jan in Port Harcourt.
Now i'm getting apprehensive as I haven't gotten SMS/email. If I couldn't get it on Thursday in PHC, I might miss the IELTS.
Question: could it take more than the 3w/days I was told?....just need help.

Happy new year everyone.

was here 2015 to read the ollldd threads and used the info here to apply then. Then we had the CRASH.

Got a refusal back then feb 2015 in Abj, I'm ready for another try. I'm self employed, married with a child. Business is doing good.

Applied for a convention/conference then, which i will be applying for again.

Here are my challenges:

My parents DOB has errors then which I found out this year after my old man passsed on. Yes I am accountable for my errors, ignorance is not an excuse. I dont even have my old ds160 form saved anywhere, so it's a fresh form and that would be the only obstacle in my new ds160;any solution to this pls?

Are conventions/conferences still good options?hmmm yes family vacation would be nice..cutting my coat to my size for now.

Its a 3 day conference but i will be there for extra 5 days to explore the city...good idea?

bless
