Almost everyone knows smoking is an unhealthy habit. But, you are an addict and smoking gets in the way of your social life? You and your partner argue frequently due to the habit? You can break the addiction and manage your cravings by following these steps.

DETERMINE WHY YOU WANT TO QUIT.

This serves as a focus mantra.Your reason could be you want to improve your health life, be able to attend a social gathering without going ”back door” to smoke etc. Having that determination is a huge step to quitting smoking. So, when next you feel like smoking, remember your “focus mantra”.

KNOW YOUR TRIGGERS.

knowing what triggers your desire to smoke is also another key that helps you in quitting.Yours could be your social circle. You could try to avoid hanging out in places where you would feel the urge to smoke and when offered let them know your intention of quitting. Your trigger could be anything, you need to discover it.

MAKE A PLAN TO QUIT.

This is quite important as you can not just wake up one morning and say you are quitting. Pick a date and make sure its within a two weeks time frame as this gives you enough time to prepare.

DO IT YOUR OWN WAY.

Decide on which method you would adopt,like quitting completely or reducing your usage till you eventually stop. Throw away all of your cigarettes (no emergency pack!), lighters, ashtrays, and matches. Wash your clothes and freshen up anything that smells like smoke. Shampoo your car, clean your drapes and carpet, and steam your furniture.

ASK FOR SUPPORT.

Let your friends and family know of your plan to quit smoking and tell them you need their support and encouragement to stop.

PREPARE FOR CRAVINGS.
