I came to Abuja in 2015 to look for a better life. I had to leave my wife and 3 children in Abia state, to come look for a greener pasture here. I couldn't bring them along with me, because I didn't have enough money and had to cater for just myself first if I wanted to make it. I stayed with my brother and his family at Garki, Abuja, because I didn't have an accommodation of my own and I didn't know anyone else apart from him. But I had to leave after a month, because his wife's attitude was not welcoming, sometimes she would even cook without keeping any for me. I made a friend within that month I was here and he said I could stay with him, until I could get an apartment. He said he would teach me his trade for free, which was selling of clothing materials and I should also serve him for a year and promised to settle me with some money afterwards. During that period, my brother never bothered to find out how I was faring, or if I even had a place to stay. A total stranger from a different state entirely, helped me out when I was in dire need. Anyway after I served my friend for a year, he fulfilled his promise by giving me a reasonable amount to start my own business. He even got a shop for me too. I started making some money and I got a one bedroom apartment after which I traveled to Abia to get my family. Sometimes the people that would be your saviours are not even blood relations but total strangers. My friend is like a brother to me now, I can never forget him. 3 Likes 2 Shares |
