On the 11th of September, the Nigerian Army was reportedly involved in an altercation with IPOB in front of Nnamdi Kanu's house. Kanu called a press conference the next day, 12th September, where he explained his side of the story about the altercation. Nnamdi Kanu prophetically said to the pressmen:

Nigeria is bringing war to us, we are not fighting anybody. It is Burutai and his men that are bringing war to us. They want us to become armed, so that the world can say that Nnamdi Kanu is leading a violent armed group, which is not the case. They are provoking us to war, and it is your duty as journalists to make sure the world understands this.

Two days later, on the 14th of September, the Nigerian Army stormed Kanu's house and he has not been heard of or seen since then.
