A former mayor aged 62 who left his wife for a 19-year-old farm worker has insisted: "We are very much in love"

John Copsey met Daisy Tomlinson during the year of his civic service in Bridlington, Yorkshire, and they are now living together.

John, an electrical engineer with a 34-year-old son, has said he even intends to marry his teenage girlfriend.
His ex Jacqui, 63, who first got together almost 40 years ago, said: "I think he’s gone nuts.

"He’s always been a bit of a player but it’s beyond the pale."

But the loved-up couple, who have been pictured walking around their local town hand-in-hand, don't see any problem with the 43-year age gap.

"We are very much in love and intend to marry," said Mr Copsey.
