Before we can say IPOB had impact in Anambra governorship election, voters turnout need to be less than 15%. Anything more than that, IPOB cannot lay claim to having any significant impact in Anambra Election. Historically, turnout in Anambra Election has always be low. In 2013 election that elected Obiano for his first term in office, out of about 1.8million registered voters only about 452 thousands voted. That gave a voter turnout of about 25%. Even with the low official turnout, there were still cases of multiple thumb printing, inflated results and rigging. Which means the actual voters turn out may be less than 20%. We need to understand this before IPOB start shouting victory in November 18th 2017 election if the turnout is low. The low turn out has nothing to do with IPOB It’s like asking people to protest by not going to market on a rainy day when it is true that people don’t go to market on a rainy day in the first place! IPOB are being clever by half just to massage their ego. If they are a serious group they will be encouraging their supporters to go to the polls and vote their preferred candidates.
