It was a black Sunday in Awka today as a trailer lorry crushed to death a commercial motorcyclist and his female passenger at the Kenneth Dike Library axis of the Awka - Onitsha Expressway.
According to an eyewitness Jacob Ogbuche who is also a motorcyclist , the late Cyclist with his passenger entered the expressway from the road leading to Teachers House beside the Library wall and was riding against the traffic when an on coming SUV from the opposite direction hit and brought them down and the lorry which was behind the SUV crushed them to death.
Policemen who are on election duty were able to stop the trailer driver some metres from the scene of the incident while the SUV driver ran away.
Personnel of Road Safety Corps who arrived the scene promptly took away the remains of the victims but refused to talk to journalists.
About fifteen minutes after the dead bodies were evacuated, a driver of a Rover Saloon car who was over speeding crashed into the wire mesh recently put in place by the State Government .
Unfortunately, two occupants of the vehicle came out alive with minor injuries but were also taken away by FRSC personnel for medical attention.

should they use their shirt to cover these victims faces, and keep some sort of dignity for the family, in this world where people are quick to snap pics of the faces of dead people, and posting them online for all to see?!
