The Northern politicians understands the southern divides and the uncompromising postures that beset the Southern Nigeria, and they have always used these positions to pitch the two regions against each other to its Northern advantage and position northern interest above southern interests. It has always worked for the North since pre- independent era and it is still working for the Northern today in the present politics.

They don’t necessarily understand it. I think they only ‘muscle’ their way through it.
